Boinktard Lawmakers Dept: It's Illegal to Feed Human Beings In Orlando....
Quote:A Florida man who deliberately defied an Orlando ordinance which prohibits feeding the city's homeless will become the first person to face trial for the offence when he's hauled before a judge and jury.

According to wftv.com, 22-year-old Eric Montanez was in April this year caught on video camera providing nourishment to a group of the less fortunate in Lake Eola Park in contravention of the ban on "mass feeding in one area". He was duly cuffed for his trouble...

Montanez said: "The law itself should be illegal. Feeding people should not be criminalised. Being poor should not be criminalised." He added: "We're ready to take this on."...

He was found not guilty.  Other cities are also trying to prevent Food Not Bombs from feeding the homeless.

Quote:Food Not Bombs volunteer Eric Montanez was found not guilty by a jury for the “crime” of feeding more than 24 people in an Orlando, Florida city park. He faced a fine of $500 and sixty days in jail. This week city police also threatened to arrest Food Not Bombs volunteers in a several American cities. Police backed down this past weekend in Albuquerque and West Palm Beach although they still claim they may arrest the volunteers in the future. Food Not Bombs volunteers in Cleveland and Nashville have also been told they must move their programs to an area out of public view.

Las Vegas has outlawed feeding homeless people in public parks.

Orlando has a history of crimializing homelessness

Quote:Orlando's Shameful History of Criminalizing Homelessness:
•Undercover Cops to Nab Panhandlers

•Sitting on Sidewalks While Homeless a Crime in Orlando

•Orlando's Begging Zones for the Poor & Homeless

•Sleeping While Homeless a Crime in Orlando
