Between 23rd October and 31st December 2007 inclusive in the Photography and Toys and Games categories, the Gallery listing upgrade feature will be free and Insertion Fees will be reduced. For example, a listing with a Gallery photo starting at 99p will now only cost 5p compared to 30p normally, a massive saving of 25p per listing. Final value fees will be increased, but you only pay these if your item sells.

What is it?

Between 23 October and 31 December 2007 inclusive (local UK time), sellers who list item(s) using the Auction-style, Auction-with-Buy It Now or Buy It Now Only (Fixed Price) formats in the Photography or Toys & Games categories will not be charged for using the gallery listing upgrade feature for each item they list. The gallery listing upgrade fee is normally priced at 15 pence per item listed when using the Auction style, Auction-with-Buy It Now or Buy It Now Only (Fixed Price) formats. In addition, between 23 October and 31 December 2007 inclusive (local UK time), sellers who list item(s) using the Auction-style, Auction-with-Buy It Now or Buy It Now Only (Fixed Price) formats in the Photography or the Toys & Games Categories will pay a reduced insertion fee for each item they list as shown in the table below:...

First media, now toys.  Is Ebay moving towards category specific pricing? Will it be implemented on the US site?
Category specific pricing would be a definite improvement in many categories (MEDIA  Smile ) but it wouldn't be enough of an incentive for me to start listing on eBay--eBay needs to adopt an Amazon style monthly subscription plan if they want my business...and the monthly charge would need to be the same or lower than Amazon.

eBay already has category specific pricing for media sellers in the US...it's called Half.com. :imptongue: I doubt if they'll introduce reduced media listing fees on the .com site like they did in the UK and Germany UNLESS they finally decide to pull the plug on Half..
