RE: eBay Changes Fees, eBayers Stage Their Annual Boycott
Quote:Taking part in a boycott would hurt me far more than it would hurt Ebay. I can't afford to lose 7 days of sales. I need the cash flow. I don't think that a boycott is going to do more than annoy ebay slightly. Kind of like a mosquito bite. Besides, I doubt that any of ebay's high volume sellers will/would participate(clearly you aren't ). If I were an HVS on eBay, I wouldn't participate either. :cinqo1: |

RE: eBay Changes Fees, eBayers Stage Their Annual Boycott
Quote:I don't think that a boycott is going to do more than annoy ebay slightly. The growth in eBay's international business will more than negate the impact of a US/Canada only boycott. The US accounts for less than half of eBay's marketplace revenues now. Quote:I can't afford to lose 7 days of sales. I need the cash flow. Quote:I doubt that any of ebay's high volume sellers will/would participate I doubt that any of them could participate even if they wanted to. Being without any cash flow for an extended period isn't fun--we were forced to do it for 9 days in mid-December because our TulipStuff store grew much faster than we expected and we exceeded our Visa/MasterCard processing limit 2 months in a row which caused the underwriting department at our merchant bank to put a hold on our settlement funds until we signed a new agreement/were approved for a higher processing limit (we had processed more than double the monthly limit in November and had already processed 3 times our monthly limit during the first 2 weeks of December ). We had over $1,000 in orders coming in daily during that period and couldn't pay our suppliers which caused the shipment of a lot of those orders to be delayed for several days. Not fun...especially at the peak of the holiday shopping period. |

Auctionbytes boycott editorial and comments:
http://blog.auctionbytes.com/cgi-bin/blo...09274.html Quote:In the past, sellers considering a boycott worried about two things: non-boycotting sellers benefiting from less competition on eBay, and a desire not to hurt the marketplace on which they depend for a living. This year is different, however. eBay is making changes that cause many sellers to question whether they'll be able to depend on eBay for a living going forward. Many believe the boycott is their one chance to get the attention of eBay management before the changes roll out. |

RE: eBay Changes Fees, eBayers Stage Their Annual Boycott
SNEAKY's GUIDE TO EBAY BOYCOTTS, POLICY CHANGES, and LEVEL PLAYING FIELDS
Case Study 1: Failed boycott 1000 sellers boycott -total annual GMV $10 million 1 seller doesn't participate in boycott -annual GMV $25 million Case Study 2: Seller protest fails to make eBay change policy 1000 protesting sellers in favor of policy change -total annual GMV $10 million 1 seller against policy change -annual GMV $25 million Level Playing Field Definition Every seller receives 1 vote for each $1 of annual GMV contributed. (many mistakenly believe level playing field means 1 vote per seller.)
