a quote from another article: Quote:There are a lot of differences between the cultures of America and Europe - with one of the biggest being perhaps the different attitudes over sexuality and nudity. American's are driven by more puritanical beliefs which seek to relegate images or depictions of nude bodies to the darker recesses of both society and the human mind.http://atheism.about.com/b/2003/08/06/cu...merica.htm |

My Mother was fully European, and her attitude was very puritanical when I was growing up. I remember when my cousin from Paris, Michel, lived with us for a while, he brought me a beautiful white silk blouse with ruffles.......totally see-through, and I loved it. I was 15. My Mother forbade me to wear it (which I probably would have done with my daughter), and then, when I managed to get out of the house with it on, and inevitably got caught, she grounded me for TWO MONTHS, lol!! I think that Germans are more puritanical re sexuality than other Europeans. Michel's mother thought that my Mother's reaction was typically American. tolensmiley: Edit to correct typo. |

Sex education is also more prevalent in European countries. The puritanical repression of anything to do with sexuality and nudity in this country is probably a major factor in explaining why U.S. per capita rape/sex crimes rates are substantially higher than in any European country http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_ra...per-capita |

Re: Entrecard Daily Stuff
By the way, thanks for the help, Entrecard. More than half of my traffic is now coming from search engines and blogs citing my articles. Actually, I estimate it's approx 3/4 of my traffic. tolensmiley:
