More important, the change reflects our product's evolution. When we launched Google Print, our goal was to make it easier for users to discover books. Now that we're starting to achieve that, we think a more descriptive name will help clarify what our users can do with it: namely, search the full text of books to find ones that interest them and learn where to buy or borrow them....

Google Books has several flaws that if used allow users to read over 90% of copyrighted books.

From the beginning of this initiative, the company and its supporters have reassured authors and copyright holders that the idea is not to present complete copyrighted books online, simply to give browsers a flavor of what's in the books.

Still, if you're determined to, you can use Google Books to read well over 90 percent of any book...

..Of course, in exchange for getting copyrighted books free, you have to accept the fact that 8-10 percent of the books will be inaccessible.
