eBay Hires Wal-Mart Exec to Fill Chief Technology Officer for Marketplaces Job

eBay...today announced that Matt Carey will join the company as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President for eBay Marketplaces, effective February 1, 2006. Carey, who brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, will report to John Donahoe, President of eBay Marketplaces.

...Carey comes to eBay from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., where he was Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. With Wal-Mart for more than 20 years, Carey directed the development and execution of the company's technology strategy, supporting the opening of more than 350 new stores and distribution centers around the globe on an annual basis. In addition, Carey served in an advisory role for the in-store merchandising strategy of technology-related products.
