UK online shoppers spend twice as much as European counterparts

Quote:...the average UK Internet shopper spent approximately £875 (E1,285) and bought 12 items online in 2005.

In the rest of Europe shoppers on average spent £452 (E664) and bought only five items online. The average value of each transaction in the UK was £72.92 compared to £90.40 in the rest of Europe with French consumers spending the least online, an average of only £254 (E373).

The top five UK products or services bought online were travel tickets, holidays, books, theatre or cinema tickets, and electrical goods.
