Yahoo SERP Fluctuations
What's up with Yahoo's search results lately? My SERPs and the pages on my site being indexed by Yahoo have been showing big fluctuatations daily for the past month. One day the search returns 1500 pages indexed, the next 400, the next 1800. Every day this month a wild swing. Are they adjusting their engine again?

Re: Yahoo SERP Fluctuations
Quote:and the pages on my site being indexed by Yahoo have been showing big fluctuatations daily for the past month. One of our sites went from having almost 5,000 pages indexed in Yahoo to only 200 at the beginning of last month. Its since climbed up to about 800-1100 pages since then. In our case, the drop seems to be because Yahoo's crawler changed how it was accessing the pages--it used to access the mod rewrite versions of the pages (i.e. /directory/page.html and now it is somehow indexing directory.php?pagex. Strange because we have another site using the same software and it hasn't been affected--Y's crawler is still indexing the mod rewrite pages on that one. There were a lot of people complaining early last month about changes in Yahoo.

Re: Yahoo SERP Fluctuations
Quote:yahoo was playing around again today It does seem like they're still making adjustments. The site that dropped lso much ast month went from 1,100 pages indexed Wednesday to 10,600 on Thursday--so that was good. The site that was unaffected last month got hit on Wednesday and went from Yahoo showing 8,800 pages to them only showing 78 :o . Its since recovered somewhat to 1,480 pages , so hopefully it will recover the rest of the way like the other one did.
