LOL! Apparently store sellers aren't as stupid as eBay thought. I listed a couple higher dollar things, thinking that if they sell in the next week, I'll save on FVF. But I think maybe a dozen max. Certainly the fewest I've ever listed for a listing day sale. As others have said, if store items are showing up in searches for 2 cents a month, why pay 10 cents for a week?

[quote}why pay 10 cents for a week
For precisely the reason you mentioned - If you're fairly certain your listing will sell in the 7 days, at a selling price of only $15, the savings on the FVF is about $0.41 - almost enough to pay for the listing + gallery. And obviously if it's a multiple quantity listing; even better.

I don't think they'll raise the store fees again.
My right hand says: No store fee hike. My left hand says: A hike to 3-4-5 cents is possible because eBay.uk shop owners are paying 3p Quote:Despite what we may all think, eBay's management isn't entirely stupid. No but they are entirely arrogant which can lead to even worse decision making than being stupid. Quote: Large previously successful eBay sellers finally getting eaten alive, or leaving eBay for St Elsewhere and getting printed in all those online interviews, eBay's increasing fees always comes up among their reasons for tanking/leaving. eBay has finally clued in that the fees are indeed TOO HIGH for sellers to remain and compete. Yes, they may have gotten rid of some of the riff-raff sellers they wanted to drive away, but.. The rest still can't hack it, long term, with what they're charging. I don't think frequent sales or including store items in search will help eBay retain top sellers who are operating on thin margins. FVFs are still 8%. eBay at some point might be forced to lower fees. The competition and potential competition is free or almost free: Google Base, Microsoft Expo. Web sites are cheaper. Overstock's new low priced subscription plans (we're paying $39.95 +5% FVF for up to 30,000 monthly listings) and very friendly attitude towards larger sellers make it an option too. Craigslist, Yahoo, Live Deal....free |
