Quote:All message boards seem to have a problem with user ratings systems too. Amazon switched forum software last month and added a similar rating system.  The shrieks on the Amazon board were even worse than on eBay (but Amazon's boards on a good day tend to resemble eBay's Power Seller board, so loud shrieking was to be expected).  The Amazon Forum rating system is now gone.  Here is the poll: http://www.amazonsellercommunity.com/for...a?pollID=1

Ha!! Thanks BBH! Scooch @ ebay said that other sites were using the ratings too, that's why they are doing it.

Quote:Some were member to member, and some were business to member. Some used a 1-5 scale, but most used a yes/no scale.

I actually asked him to give an example but he never did! I had no idea amazon did it too.  I would love to mention this on the AC discussions .... please!  Smile

Mention it. It lasted less than a month on Amazon before they removed it, and everyone hated it from the second it was added..

Putting ratings on the Amazon board was a much worse idea than putting them on eBay's Answer Center because everybody on Amazon's boards is a competitor--they're all selling the same books/CDs/DVDs/Videos so you can imagine how they used the rating system.  :blinkie:

Does eBay ever come up with their own original ideas?

I think that the concept of ebay itself was probably it. Since then it's been easier to steal them.

O.T.> I'll post a few interesting signs that I took pictures of here in ChiangMai if someone can tell me how to go about posting a New Topic. Where is it hiding?

At the top and bottom of the forum listing pages (eBay forum, etc) there is a row of green buttons:

Here is an update if anyone is interested!  Smile

Most of the regulars have quit posting.  The AC is not as friendly as it used to be, the newbies have taken over.  Others have received 7-day vacations, and that includes Bob!!!!!  Glenda decided to join him (voluntarily), but she hasn't been around much anyway.

Goes to show how much ebay cares about its members (but I new that already).  Angryfire

eBay managed to ruin the AC.  I hate eBay, but I used to enjoy posting on the AC.  Not any more.  I've never received any pink slaps before, but this is going to change pretty soon!

I'm sorry for everyone who is losing their community on the AC board.  It's not one that I ever go to, so am not familiar with the regulars or its form.  Very sad. :-\
