Creative accounting scam worthy of some shady porn site
The thread title is a line from a post on the eBay Stores board:
http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?t...2000095961&tstart=0 Yep, another post on eBay's bill full price now for a free trial (or listing sale) and issue a credit for the sale amount at some point in the distant future. : If you used eBay's accounting methods do you think the end result would be you would have a smaller customer base when the next holiday season rolled around? Let's say you advertise 20% off everything in your store and when your customers checkout they discover they'll be paying full price now but will receive a store credit in 3 months...would they be happy and say "thank you store owner" or would they abandon their shopping cart and vow to never shop in your store again?
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"
"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site. best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011 |

Re: Creative accounting scam worthy of some shady porn site
When I closed my store before the next billing date, eBay tried to bill me. I refused to pay and then wait and see if eBay would cough up a credit later.
I went around and around with them. At one point, eBay banned me from the boards as punishment. :'( In the end, I got my way and a credit of almost $5.00. Morons. |

Yet, hordes of people still swallow that crap and continue to cheer for more. Go figure. I just don't get it.
