Why do ebay if you operate in the red?
Why do ebay if you operate in the red?

Thread title stolen from a thread on the eBay Stores board but it is something I've always wondered.
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"

"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site.
best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011

:-*  Hobby.  Bored.  Have no RL.  Need to raise the blood pressure.  Need to claim a $ loss somewhere.  Can't get the soaps on your broken TV, so read the boards everywhere instead for your daily hourly fix.

My guesses would be they don't know they're in the red until they do their taxes/max out their credit cards, they've seen late night infomercials about "getting rich on eBay' and are convinced that if they stick it out a little longer they'll get richl too, they used to make a profit on eBay and are convinced things will return to the way they were in the past, Meg has nude photos of them from the last eBay Live and is threatening to post them on the Internet if they stop listing, etc., etc.

I dunno. Didn't Amazon operate in the red for a while?

Sellers aren't operating in the red.  They are making up losses in quantity!!
