Since early this month, Internet Auction, South Korea’s leading online auctioneer, has been under public and media fire for placing six ads using hard-core contents including a sexual interlude in a hotel room, school bullying and a corpse on the beach on its Web site.

Swarmed with complaints from site-visitors, the company quietly retracted the ads on May 2...
