I don't know and don't care about advertising (don't think that any kind of effective advertising would be affordable for a site the size of WP). I think that they should first focus effort on something far more important which is instant checkout. Nobody cares what I think though. That's okay.
What type of business person are you? If you have a business you should know and should care about advertising, no matter how large or small your business is because: Advertising creates store traffic. Advertising attracts new customers. Advertising boosts and maintains moral. Advertising is an investment in success. Advertising encourages repeat business. Advertising generates continuous business. Advertising keeps your business top-of-mind. Advertising keeps you in the competitive race. Advertising gives your business a successful image. And last but not least, businesses that succeed are usually strong, steady advertisers. Lack of promised advertising is just one of the many reasons I left WP and is why WP is going bust.
And along with this, one thing my dad (my favorite guy and mentor, lol!) has reminded me over and over through the years - the key is CONSISTENCY in advertising. It does no good to run a promotional ad in the newspaper once a year. You have to get your name out there and keep it out there. Over and over and over. The average consumer is going to need to see your name several times before they even look and several more times before they buy. Running a 2 or 3 day AdWord campaign with one keyword (which no one would search for anyone) does absolutely no good. And as far as expenses - KaRay is the one who stated that they had $75000 set aside for advertising and they would be using every penny of it. Is it expensive... yes! But there is much more they could have done with that money than they have - if they really ever had the money or intention of using it. Good night all!!

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
I once saw a sign on a business that sells signs that said "A Business With No Sing Is A Sign Of No Business" Without advertisement there isn't a hope of selling anything. It is true you have to "Fill The Shelves" but if no one knows the shelves are even there it doesn't matter how good the products are or the customer service is the business will fail.Â

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Ray believes in the advertising God Google, list it and by a fluke of nature it shall appear in search.
He needed to do advertising when he opened, and continue during the peak growth of the site. He has basically said that now he ain't doing squat, no changes to the site, no ads, no nada, because he isn't making enough off of the sellers. You like it there User, by all means stay put. Don't ask questions, don't expect that instant pay option anytime soon. Until the day comes and Ray can't rub two nickels together anymore to keep the doors opened, he will close it up. |

The stuff has permeated every cell of his being and turned his brain into s sticky, raspberry-red blob of goo. Notice, dear TT-ers, that User has never indicated what other sites HE sells on, and how much HE sells, what his WP store name or ID is, or even what product he sells. Instead, he hides behind a sock puppet for the sole purpose of defending Ray and his naive side-kick PS. |
