Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Store Count = 110
I put the active sellers much lower, figure on around 75 individuals. It seems there is a new showcase store as a show of faith. Found this over at peebay, you might want to checkout the new wagglepoop UK forum. Quote:That's one way of looking at it, but I also see another. Instead of seeing it as a customer retention problem, one could say that far too many of the wrong type of people were drawn to the site in the first place. The site would have been better off if people who didn't pay their fees or didn't even stay for 30 days never showed up in the first place. They were nothing more than a drain on valuable resources. What WP may be thinking now is that they'd prefer to attract a far smaller number of sellers, the small percentage of the online selling community that can clearly recognize and appreciate a great opportunity when they see one. We may just be a lean mean selling machine. Let the Truth be Told |

wp Wrote:I'm not sure we have related fully or completely enough exactly how expensive it is to run Wagglepop or how much it cost to build it into such a uniquely high-performing feature laden site. I would classify the refusal to raise fees or cut any expenses to date that support WP as 'shockingly generous' (even by my own measure) on the part of ownership considering the numbers I posted yesterday. wp Wrote:As a follow up, total losses since the creation and inception of Wagglepop now exceed $150,000 total, with about $45,000 of that as outright debt. wp Wrote:Our biggest mistake was simply not realizing the depths to which a great bulk of the online selling community had fallen - due either to eBay or previous experience or something else entirely. wp Wrote:We listened to the near 7,000 or so people who were on our legacy email list that they were committed to selling on Wagglepop, only to find out 2 or 3 years later that that "commitment" was a castle built of sand - a mirage that did nothing more than hurt the very people we wished to support and help. |
