HA!! I remember the flack about how Ray was being accused of using the occasion to harvest emails for illicit purposes.  ;D  And it was another *maroon* that was doing it to advertise their own auction site or sumsuch.  heh heh heh.  s/m memories starting to return....

Yep, it was another eBay power seller with an out-of-the-box auction site--the same maroon who setup a fake wagglepop forum...the same maroon who spammed FAS users with the emails he harvested...the same maroon who posted the addresses and MAPS to FAS users homes...the same maroon who had 3000 keywords in their site's metatags (the 3000 is not an exaggeration-another FAS counted them with Word).  FYI, that maroon's auction site now has a grand total of ONE item listed.  ;D

... many of the posters were emotional in such a way that they seemed like jilted lovers, or recent divorcees.
Very astute. Looking back that really fits. And it explains a lot of the over-emotional reactions this whole "affair" has generated.

Quote:... it was important that the site was new, untried, and essentially a greener-pasture-promised-land-neighbor's-yard.
A good salesman can make anything he wants appear to be in a closed box.

Quote:... To those watching it unfold, it seemed like it was rocking the world. All bandwagons seem that way, anyway, from the inside.
Ebay thought it had enough potential to stomp down on it hard. In that way Ray's PR backfired. The wrong people thought it was going to be big.
... we "insiders" know about his reputation, and that is a pretty large group ... but how large is the group really when compared to the entire market of potential buyers and sellers?
Plenty enough sellers have never heard of WP to make it work, that is for sure. And many of those who were there last time will come back if it is working. It all boils down to how much PR magic Ray has in his hat, and if he can back it up, on his site and in his head.

I believe that the stress of all the attacks on him (much of which he caused, some likely was eBay protecting their turf, and some was people just piling on) was why he quit, that is why I was so surprised to see him back for another round. That the site was not capable was almost a symptom of "everything falling down around him".

I got the e-mail and I only sent him my address in a PM, did not post in the thread. I really do not mind him keeping the mailing list. At the time the concern was the credit card numbers he had collected. There is no evidence that he still has those.

MY "terms of use" say that I don't have to pay.

Maybe they could send it to collections or get
PayPal's resolution department to work on it.  Laughing7

Ray makes Lieworld look like free speech advocates.  There will be NO whining and complaining allowed on the WP boards.

I haven't checked the site out much.  Is that rule about not whining for real???
