Another classic from OTWA:

Quote:He just wanted his ego stroked, and when the opposite happened, he bailed.

Or for an allegory... little Ray got a brand new 10 speed bike and went to show all his friends. Only his chain fell off and his friends rode off on their BM/X bikes and did sweet jumps off gnarly hills while he silently wept and then left his bike behind his Dad's car so his Dad would run over it backing out of the driveway on his way to work.

I seriously need to quit reading and get back to work.... someone said something about being 'velcroed' to this board the last few days. Yup, thats me. This is the best entertainment I've had in a seriously long time (wow, I need to get out more).

Quote:Very informational and inciteful post.

I agree with you. Waiting to advertise when the magic number of listings have been met or each category reaches it's preconceived notion of "full" is just not a good business plan.

From reading the boards I see store owners out on the web posting on craigslist, hitting myspace and working really hard to to try to bring customers (buyers). The traffic they generate is small compared to what WP can do with a well planned advertising campaign. Waiting until May 2007 to start such a campaign is too late, the holiday season is here and that is when retail revenues are at their highest levels of sales.

I was looking at alexa today and checking the traffic numbers for WP, they have declined since Oct and the trend is on a downward spiral. That shouldn't be happening especially this time of year. The sales report also reflects the decline in traffic.

Speaking of the sales report, I didn't see Karen's normal sales report thread on the boards today.

Anyway, WP needs to start their external advertising now, it has been an issue since they opened in May and continually comes up on the boards. I hope that it becomes a priority along with other pressing issues such as invoicing.

When I move in mid January and open my store I want to be sure that there are customers otherwise I will need to go with my second choice.

chiquita, this one is for you!  Toadgirl just responded to the post  gamer brought over.  I can't believe all her posts stayed on the boards last night.  Maybe Ray likes her spunk, LOL!!
Good bye all

Hello everyone and thank you for all the new welcomes.

I've been busy today Gittin Outta Dodge! All my current listings (over 1,000) I did manually with no backup. So I have to go into each one and save them on my computer. Been at it all day. Decided to take a break and peak in here.

Life on the WP boards is really slow today (been peeking there too). Maybe the sellers are starting to realize they are having more "fun" than humans should be allowed.  The multi-personality, muti-tasking captain at the helm has been eerily quiet today too. Isn't this a dangerous move, allowing the flock too much time to think for themselves before delivering the next mezmerising sermon?

From my previous reading here, I don't think this little gem was shared. From a seldom visited thread:

*****,

The vast majority of sales are to newly registered buyers (somewhere in the range of 85-90% typically of the overall), generally OneBid Instant Purchase sales and fed from search engines or shopping comparison sites.

For the "normal" online buyer, leaving feedback is a secondary or unfamiliar notion, and for that reason your perception of how the feedback relates to overall sales, as noted above, is slightly skewed statistically Smile

Thanks Sweet Girl  Wink

Youroverheadbin, that avatar is hilarious, sort of my mood right now, just trying to keep my eyeballs open, this WP saga is like watching a bad movie, where you know how it will end but you just can't pull yourself away. It has more twists and turns than the young and the restless. :blinkie:
