Overhead, great post on PSU.
River Rat, I absolutely love your site. I thought wow you are so blessed to be able to experience the thrill of finding beautiful driftwood, and find all those treasures a good home. Not to mention make a living at it. You my friend have done an awesome job, not that I would expect anything less from a fellow Virgo.

YOHB

Great PSU post! My sentiments exactly, and I told Gael so. She is a RARE WP seller. But I truly believe that if we all had been as smart and as level-headed as she was when joining WP2, the site would have been history a long time ago, as I (and I think many others here) would NEVER have gotten ourselves in that mess in the first place.

One thing some WP sellers don't (and will probably never) understand, is that NO MATTER HOW HARD THEY TRY it's not going to work for them and it's not their fault. As soon as any buyer Googles WP and pulls up all the info on the site, it's curtains. Asking buyers to "pledge" payment of their invoices when they're not even sellers, from a site owner that once closed the site with no warning for undisclosed reasons, taking sensitive personal information with him, that he was proven NOT to have destroyed (as claimed), would be enough for any buyer, no matter how loyal he/she is to a particular seller, to head for the hills. And Ray's horrible reputation reflects on the sellers, something over which they have no control.

I second banana's compliment to your website River Rat. I took a peak too and was quite impressed. Great job and kudos to your success!

Some of the overly defensive responses regarding Wagglepop (both then and now) have always reminded me of emotional lovers/ex-lovers.

Many of the Poppers then (and now) have been so vehement and hateful about eBay, one would think they had just broken up with an awful ex-spouse that they still have feelings for (but the hatred outweighs the love).

Wagglepop rides in as the new boyfriend/girlfriend, deserving of the tortured soul's new passion, love, and defense. The tortured "divorcee" then defends the rebound lover no matter how silly the lover may seem to others.

Then,

The same analogy occured to me, but I never expressed it cause I was afraid folks here would think I was some kind of psycho-woman. Glad to hear I'm not alone.

It's like my assessment of WP as a cult. I thought it was just me who got this impression, but then discovered in personal emails with some other Poppers at the time, that they got the same feeling.

Thentavius your "high logic" is right on the money. The one thing I noticed about the devout diehard poppers is that their loyalty to WP is equal to their hatred, anger, and disillusionment with Ebay. It is the glue that binds them both to WP and each other. They hate Ebay even more because they are still angry that they haven't left Ebay for good. It resonates in all their posts both on WP and Ebay.
As long as their hatred for Ebay is the dominant thought, the more blinded they are. Anger and Rage cannot be the driving force when you are making important decisions about your business. You will misstep, and make serious errors because your judgement is impaired.

This mutual hatred toward eBay is part of what makes WP a cult. If you follow their mindset, you will see that anything anti-WP is necessarily viewed as pro-eBay, when the posters here are anything BUT pro-eBay. Independent thinking and objective reasoning are not exhibited in cult behavior.

It appears DRM/aka Saturn has started a thread on PSU to analyze what is wrong with TT posters.
