RE: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
I contacted wagglepop to maybe see about advertising on their site for my image hosting site (gotnetspace).

It seems that banner ads are in the future, and I offered a large sum of money for a banner ad (around $100).

It seems that they think their traffic is worth more,

see below.  I inserted WP into this old post and updated the other site's values (the numbers are based on one site wide text link ...if more than 1 link was sold the amount that should be charged monthly per link/banner is much less than what is shown below:
TextLinkAds has added a free Link Worth Calculator to help you determine what to charge advertisers for a link on your site.

http://www.text-link-ads.com/link_calculator.php

According to the calculator, a site-wide top of the page text link on Slashdot is  valued at  "more than you can afford", on TheRegister.co.uk it is $13,156 monthly, on f*ckedcompany.com it is worth $407 monthly, OTWA is $114 monthly,  here on TulipTools it is worth a lowly $63 monthly,  Wagglepop $46, and on EcommerceArena it is worth a bargain basement $18 monthly. Smile
edit to add monthly values from the calculator for other venues: Overstock $11,522,  iOffer $1,184, LiveDeal $307, eBid $91, Bidville $80
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"

"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site.
best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011

That's an interesting site!  According to several well-known sites that I checked out, Kirk's $100 offer was more than fair.

bbh, is a site with an Alexa rank of  545,213 a waste of money to place a link on? I don't know a thing about Alexa ranks, obviously! Iamwithstupid

My guess was that Kirk's offer was more than fair BEFORE BBH gave the stats.  Tongue

Holy crap.

If that's what Ray's asking... he must be hoping for a lot of hits from board users. LOL.

Ray mentions *traffic they're getting*.  If he's doing stuff behind the scenes with SEO or googlebase or something and is getting lookers off those, he just MIGHT be getting more traffic than we realise.  Apparently, tho, it's not yet transforming into buys, or he would be promoting that.  He might be expecting great things.

Still a jerk not work trusting, IMHO.

One of Bidville's biggest cheerleaders angelsolutions has finally seen the light and has decided to leave Bidville.  Copy and paste of her farewell speech is here:

http://www.mad-cows.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53851

The reason I'm posting this bit of info here is Dimview's comment which all Wagglepooper's who are tirelessly doing Ray's work (advertising WP) for him should heed:

dimview Wrote:Moral of the story:

It is the responsibility of an auctionsite, not its sellers, to do the advertising.

FYI--angel will be concentrating on her website  Thumbsup which is what the WPers should be doing instead of spamming for Ray.
