Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
YOHB --- Kudos, my friend.
To all lurkers: The AdSmart (or AdsDumb) program, is so absurd, we couldn't help poking fun at it. I, for one, could find NO redeeming feature about it: it's a true WTF. It's singing to the choir and paying the pastor for the privilege. Furthermore, its very nature leaves it open to fraud, as history has shown with similar programs elsewhere. Anybody, hypothetically, could pick an account and clickety-click away. The program wouldn't know if it's Joe Blow, Joe Blow's nom de plume, Joe Blow's 25 sisters and brothers using the same computer, or who was doing the clicking. Nor would it care. There is one, and only one person, who truly stands to gain by doing this (if such were to occur), and by doing it often. If you use your powers of reason you will figure out why. There is only one person who can say that participation in AdSmart has directly resulted in a sale, and that's the one selling the feature. And coincidentally, the feature magically appeared as this wonderful new program, as the number of stores (and consequent monthly income to the site owner), diminished. Even if AdSmart turns out to be a total bust and sellers reject it, enough have tried it to make it profitable to the site owner. Further, it remains "in the bag" ready for use on the next boatload of disenchanted eBay refugees. Lurkers -- look at the totality of how the whole system is set up -- from fees (store & featured), to AdSmart, board censorship, WaggleStuff, upgrades, mentorship, "guides," and whatever other switches Ray has yet to turn on from his boxed auction software program. And then think about how much blood, sweat and tears YOU have put into HIS site and how little benefit YOU have gotten from it. Even when you're long gone, Ray will continue to reap the benefit of YOUR efforts to market HIS site, while he sits back in his fuzzy slippers and sips a glass of wine confident in knowing his worker bees are buzzing their brains out. I rest my case. Edited for a couple typos (I hate to preview) |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
When KaRay first announced the launch of AdSmart, I asked a few questions and stated a few facts about it on one of the threads. I was berated, talked down to, etc. for it. That was the beginning of the end of my membership at Pop Land. The question I asked is "why would you pay money for ads that only other sellers and a FEW buyers that aren't sellers would see". It made no sense to me then, and it makes no sense to me now. Why would you pay to advertise your store on a site that does no advertising to bring in buyers
Just a little something for you lurkers that are poppers to ponder

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Partial quote: Quote:To all lurkers:
Bolding mine. And I support Alsking's observations and analysis. My initial reaction was "what a joke". AdSmart - Advertise internally so your best customers (other sellers to date on the most part) could find you faster. As if they didn't know how to find you, didn't have you bookmarked as a favourite, didn't know you line of product if they were in the market for your wares. Give your heads a shake. I received an email from an active WP seller today; one who had bookmarked me as a favorite, expressing surprise that my store no longer exists. She had no idea I was gone. I responded that I was in the process of closing but had been banished and why. No weepies, no poor me - the truth I hope I conveyed was that I was so thankful to be rid of Wagglepoop. Permit me to ask the WP cheerleading lurkers this question regarding feedback. But first a bit of background on why I am asking it. Many fervent poppers are now showing pride in the feedback score they have derived on WP. Feedback is composed of buyer and/or seller input. I will celebrate with you all when the ratio of buyer feedback (generated by outside buyers) overtakes that of feedback left by other sellers. I will also bow to your business astuteness when the seller score outweighs the buyer acknowledgment attached to your ID. Back to asking my question. When do you expect to realized this dynamic change based on projections given by WP staff? How long do you personally think it should take or will take? Can you comfortably wait out the financial budgetary period you have been alloted by WP? Are you confortable with the present advertising options open to you to promote your store, your own business, your own livelihood. Options that are purely at your discretion, without upfront support from the venue you have affiliated yourself with? Oops I lied - I had more than one question. My interpretation only: Definition of Wagglepop: Chasing your tail until your joints give out. Waggle and Pop. If chasing your business dream fits this analogy then sweat till you pop. I lied, three questions actually but please respond because I honestly welcome your input.
The one thing you can never afford to lose is your temper.
