The current sellers already believe this excuse, I think the announcements are for the benefit of potential new sellers, a way to say all is as it should be, dynamic this, trust based that, happy happy joy joy, we're growing faster than the speed of light.

Fine, please go back and check your PayPal account as Alskling and I have both done. You will see that you did not have to pay anything immediately. The $9.95 cost that appeared on your seller account when you opened would not have been invoiced or payable at least until the next invoices were issued which is done on the 10th of each month. When reviewing my PayPal account, I discovered that my WP store which was opening on 7/22 did not cost me a dime until 9/10.

Not everyone has the same experiences that you have had with WP. I opened 2 accounts with WP. 1 as a seller account and the other as a buy only account. Both were opened around 9/5/06. On the seller account we got our first invoice and paid it 9/10/06. We continued to pay each invoice on the 10th when it came in. Our seller account was closed 11/21/06 by request on my part. The buyer account was closed the next day 11/22/06 and both accounts are now locked. We never had any fees with the buyer account but if you try to log into it it says past due invoices have locked this account.

WP never tried to charge me with the extra month after I requested the account to be closed due to the censorship and lack of free speech. Yes I was given the chance to pull my listings one by one and pay my account in full but I didn't owe anything on the account. If you try to close your store rather then get terminated they will try to charge an extra month. I can't speak for everyone but niether can you powerseller due to the fact you haven't been terminated or have had to close your account.

No. Services aren't covered. Your only recourse would be to file a chargeback with your credit card company. See below:

Hey all, I've got to quit 'going away' for a couple days - too much to catch up on when I get back!

Any of those reasons isn't good. I could be wrong, but I have a hard time believing that close to a full 10% of store owners are UNintentionally going delinquent. JMHO.

How PowerSeller didn't pay until September, when we both opened stores at around the same time, is a mystery. After I closed, I was invoiced for another month, which I did not owe.

It's called waggle math. The best scams don't make any sense to anyone but the person running the scam in the first place. Think about it how in the world is negative growth in the business world protrayed as a good thing?

And lets not forget that this isn't the first time this has happened. Every time there is a big number of stores that close, the reason given is that the delinquent accounts were closed.

One of the stores that closed had approximately 3600 listings, yet the number of listings posted on the WP home page doesn't reflect that. There was a slight drop in the number of listings posted, but it seems the 3600 listings weren't included in the slight drop Icon_scratch
