Thanks for the advice, everyone. Your point, Eclectica, is a good one. I've spent quite a few hours setting up my categories, and suddenly it occured to me that maybe I'm missing the boat and should be created separate stores instead of separate categories within one big store. OK, another question. I'm starting a new specialty line of Nordic arts and apparel, consisting of Scandinavian arts (artisan glass, pottery, antiques) and traditional apparel along with German Tyrolian art and dress. I've already received the green light to set up this specialty store on Etsy, and am wondering if I should create one on Ecrater as well, put these items in my Designers Bargains Ecrater store, or just not deal with them on Ecrater. I want to get the most traffic and exposure. Any thoughts?
I don't know a whole lot about Etsy in terms of traffic, etc., but from the sounds of it that would be the perfect place for those type of items. In that case, I wouldn't bother listing them on eCrater or maybe just list the apparel since that goes along with what you already offer? I suppose it just depends on how much extra work you want, going along with what Truth pointed out.
Alskling, I don't know to much about Etsy as hand made stuff isn't my cup of tea but if you have multiple quantities or accesss to additional inventory then why not list on both sites as long as you can handle the work load. A good example of this would be eBay user id grapevinehill. They use a company called channeladvisor to control there listings on different venues. Now I am not telling you to use them but take a look at what they do and you will be able to apply your own system in the same way as long as you have multiple quantities of the same items which I think you do. I do it with my own system and so can you! let the truth be told u1it4less - "it's all in the name.." X-POP NATION, A real seller's network |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Thanks, everybody.
Actually, no. I don't have multiple quantities of identical items. I might, for example, have several sizes of the same style pump, but rarely more than one pair of the same size and style. Almost every item I have is unique, individual, one-of-a-kind which is why picture-taking, listing, packing and mailing, etc. is so incredibly time-consuming. The last thing I want to do is create more work for myself. I guess I should just stick to the specialty store on Etsy and keep my Designers Bargains Ecrater store as I've set it up to replicate my eBay store. I can always add another eCrater store later, I suppose. |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Alskling,
As far as ecrater you might consider having a vintage clothing store seperate from your main clothing/shoes store. If you have enough inventory in your vintage line that might work. I would keep your main store items together, as you have a better chance of upselling. You should also advertise or utilize your skills as a personal shopper. You already do it for your customers, just make that info. visible to the customer. Especially for men. One thing to always remember about ecrater is that they don't have inventory control, so you have to be on top of it, especially if you don't have multiples of that item. They will still show up as available for sale unless you remove the item. Good Luck. I just wanted to give all of you a link to a website of a store. This is an ecrater store so when you click on items you are redirected to ecrater. It uses tables (don't ask me to explain because I can't) but this is a great idea. http://www.littledaisychains.org/ |

Thanks for reminding me about the inventory control issue. I'd forgotten about that.
Also a good point, my banana friend, about creating a separate vintage store, and one I'd also considered for the same reasons you suggested. It's good to hear my reasoning confirmed -- means I'm not totally out to lunch on everything. Now, if any of you want to hop a flight to Atlanta and help me do all this, come on down. Hey Brat, what do you sell on Ecrater? |

Anyone care to take a stab at translating this? From the WP "post your pic" thread, on being asked for a staff photo, and then a popper's suggestion that the woman on the front page was "Karen" -
Quote:Hello Members, WTF? Since they are planning a media event in the very nebulous future, they can't just post a pic now? Uh huh. Still didn't finish drawing those stick figures, I guess. JoJo |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Well the husband came home with 30+ new toys for me to list and I got my coffee pot brewing. I managed to get some of the cleaning done....lol
Hi Regic, Thanks for the help. Here is my Toy Store www.toyfads.ecrater.com Alskling, I sell collectable toys. Mostly action figures. My husband is a big toy collector and I was loosing my house to all his Toys. I wanted to stop working for awhile when I had my 3rd child and started on ebay. I have managed to get the h to let me sell off some of his collection to make room. Now he does not keep too much for himself anymore. He gets to hunt and look at all the toys still, but now instead of hording them we make money on them. He gets the inventory and I take care of things on the computer. I think he was deprived of toys as a child...lol His favorite is Star Wars, X-Men and WWE. The others already gave you great advice and the only thing I want to ad is if you ever decide you want to start a ad campaign, it will be more cost effective to do it with one store. My wish list for ecrater 1. a shipped icon 2. inventory control Rat: Guess what? a pair of my chiclids had babies yesterday....lol I have about 70 fry. The kids are getting a big kick out of it. Oh and a message for Ray......You can take that Wagglepop Account Overdue Notification and shove it up your ! I dont owe you jack |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
For my favorite Rat: I'm too lazy to look for your post to quote regarding the slowness of WP loading lately. A thread started by the popper about it, who all though 'it must be them/their computer' was finally responded to by KaRay:
Quote:wagglepopCC1 22 Feb 2007 19:29 Correct me please if I'm wrong, but has KaRay ever answered a general point of concern with 'sorry you are all experiencing problems. We will look into it'. It seems to me every response is defensive. Have I just described the nature of the beast? Rat, I'm on high-speed and I've been doing some 'research' lately on WP. About once an hour it slows down to a crawl for about 5 minutes, then picks up again. weird to say the least.
The one thing you can never afford to lose is your temper.
