Truth... you are so right... I spent less than $70 for 12 months of hosting thru TT and BBH installed zen cart for free and Regic and BBH patiently answered my questions... Paying WP for just a basic store would have been $120 or so for a year... but this is mine!!  And I can do what I want, and have sales when I want and give discounts when I want and no one can tell me what to do... that's the best part!!!

First of all... if this is a repeat question.....I'm sorry...

Now, I've sold an item and typically the buyers have paid via PayPal...no problem. This time I've received a note from Wagglepop stating that the buyer has sent a Notification Payment.

Where is it? I don't know where to look to see what the buyer said?

Karen, How do we know the difference? I was trying to see if she was mailing in a payment or what so I can keep tabs of the timeframe. So basically, she really didn't write anything at all it was just an automatic email telling me she is issing payment. Gee...not sure I like that...would be nice to know how...is she mailing it in or what.

I agree, I had that happen with my last sale too, the automatic notification thing, and the buyer didn't understand what that even meant because she said she didn't even send payment yet? She later used paypal to pay but I don't think I like not knowing how payment is being sent or when when all I get is an email saying buyer is sending payment? That doesn't tell me how or when to expect it. It is also confusing to new buyers and as a seller, not being able to tell them what it means (as a lot of us never received something like that) doesn't look good for us, makes us look like we're not knowledgeable about our own system? See my point?

Flaming sucks. Most boards have policies to help keep things on a constructive keel.

Most problems arise from the inability to keep personal issues/feelings out of business conversations. People argue about business all the time, it's the nature of a group of people getting things done.

If you can not say: I think that idea sucks without someone (and not necessarily the person you said it to) taking it personally, then the fact is, the environment is not good for business discussion.

Everyone likes nice conversations and to be treated civilly. So go somewhere and socialize. Business is brutal. It's messy. Sometimes getting it done means speaking frankly and arguing.

Some people don't have the ability to seperate personal from business. They can not argue a point without an attemp to degrade the individual, or they can not discuss an issue without taking remarks peronsally. Chances are, few of these folks have been at the top of the food chain of a large corporation. Business is conducted with gloves off. You do this in the real world, and still go for drinks or bbq together after work. If people were not capable of seperating personal and business, all CEO's, CFO's and Directors would be dead.

It's unrealistic to expect people to monitor themselves for civility. What's civil to me is downright crude to the next person. So, what's to be done? Form a group to decide what is/is not an appropriate way to discuss business? Good luck.

What is realistic? If the conversation turns too stupid, don't read the thread or, if curiosity can not be contained don't participate in the thread. Alternately, anyone online can start a forum and invite only like-minded people to join.

Personally, I'd rather have a brawl. I'd rather hear what people think. I want to know where people stand. I want to people to use their own voice. I want people to contribute. It ain't always pretty. But so what? Whether you ride in a Bently or a Pinto, the only thing that matter is that you get where you're going.
