Here is an interesting observation that another TTer brought to my attention. Thanks Unique. Lets revisit the mat guy. Yesterday most of us who stayed tuned can confirm that 9250 listings were completed by him. He even confirmed this in a thread on WP. We're all familiar with the schedule of WP updating the number of listings overnight. Today however this store STILL shows 6750 under 'All Items' and not the 9250 that were supposedly uploaded.

In the past we've come to recognize that the infamous duplicate listings do not show up under All Items. Would it then be a leap of assumption that 2,500 of these listings are duplicate?

Any other theories out there on how this could be explained? Truly a puzzling phenomena.

It is certainly an interesting dynamic, and one that we are learning more about every day.

It seems that for every new startup there is a peculiar undercurrent of misinformation, disinformation, and outright hatred (generally increasing proportionate to the size of the site) though we are more than a bit perplexed as to why or what the end purpose is, outside of malicious intent.

If we were to approach it from a business perspective, it might be a simply "protectionism", whereby those who sell on eBay want to protect the current monopolization, and third-party support vendors want to keep existing eBay relationships and the current near-open API access.

In short, it could be that they see competition as a threat.

That's a longstanding fallacy, as any good businessperson will tell you competition strengthens the entire marketplace, no matter the service or product.

Even Yahoo Auctions (!), connected to one of the highest traffic sites in the world, Yahoo, has succumbed to this non-participatory pressure.

It says a lot about who really controls what online.

It probably goes even deeper than that, as those who are less inclined to create historically have always found it easier and more convenient to destroy, and the success of others simply outlines their own shortcomings and disappointments.

Angry people are pretty easy to figure out in this regard.

Let's call it what it is. Basically, Wagglepop is here, and it's pretty darned good, and we did what we set out to do as a company, and it pisses them off

If that's the way it has to be, then so be it, but we'll focus our attention on our wonderful existing and future membership.

The "miserables" can entertain themselves, as they so often do
