Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Hi everyone!
bratpack, OT: Quote:Can anyone help me ID the type of wood this antique coffee grinder is made of? Not sure if its pine or oak...Sorry to ask but I am not good with IDing wood and this is the last bit of info I need before listing it. bratpack: Ahh, finally a subject I might be able to help with. I just took a look at your photos and of course, it's very hard to tell a type of wood without seeing it and touching it. Does it look like this item has been refinished? Just from the images, the dark wood looks like a walnut or possibly a red mahogany. It all depends on which country it came from and the era. The light wood does look like pine or possibly a butternut but could also be maple. Pine and butternut are very soft and you can indent it quite easily with your fingernail. Maple is a hardwood. Way back when, furniture and wood products were made with whatever wood they had on hand at the time. Thus, the 2 types of wood on your item. You should be able to tell the age of your item by the metal on the bottom on the grinder. Dovetailing doesn't always mean its antique. Hope that helps or maybe I just confused you more! :cinqo2: |
That's hysterical... next thing you know they'll have a case to keep the lighter in that looks like a vagina. Maybe that explains what happened to Rays privates!!! They made it more functional than it ever was before and gets more use!!! Well... KaRay... you wanted sellers... you got 'em!! You're hanging out with a better class of losers... |

Thanks for the input....see this is one of the reasons I sell more toys than vintage/antiques....lol I do not like to give bad information on a product. The bottom of the grinder looks to me like cast iron as well and I am not sure if it has been refinished. Guess I better hide this listing until I can find out for sure.
Errr....ummmm....My husband has a penis lighter.... . He brought it to one of my family gatherings and everytime someone asked for a lighter he handed it to them . It took them a second to realise what they were holding and then when they tried to light it..... He got slapped a few times that day...lol But he is always pulling pranks! |
