Hey Platz, glad to hear Dusty is a bit more comfortable tonight. Whatever your final decision is, I know it will be the right one. From what I know of you and Bill, you're not impulsive or rash and you thoughtfully make decisions and stand up for what you believe in. You'll do the same this time.

As far as the kids, my 13 year old son took it the hardest when we put Nala down a couple weeks ago. He is still struggling but he does recognize that she was suffering and now she is no longer pain. Like others have said, honesty is always the best way to go. We were very honest with the kids about her condition and we had already made the decision when we talked to them. The only one "semi" involved in the decision and allowed to go with us was our 17 year old daughter. She's very mature and we felt she was old enough to decide if she wanted to be there.

My prayers are with you. I'm sure it seems impossible, but try to get some rest. I wish you peace.

Platz, Karma called today to let me know about your sweet Dusty and to check on my husband. I haven't been online recently due to Craig's long hospitalization and two surgeries, but I did want to jump on here to let you know that Dusty, you, and your family are in my thoughts. I'm so happy to know that he's feeling much better.

Should Dusty's health continue to deteriorate, know that your decision will be supported by us. Most of us have been there before and understand that the quality of life is far better than the quanity of life. While coping with the heartache and frustration of a gravely ill pet, the following death of the beloved throws one into a headlong battle of depression, guilt, and devastating grief. These feelings are normal but remember that you have a great support team amongst TTers. We'll always be here for you.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

Dusty enjoyed his evening last night.  He went out to pee, came back in and had a big drink and even ate his fave... a rawhide chewie  (we call them chewie chews). 

This morning, he is back to how he was yesterday.  Unable or unwilling to move and awake.  I doubt if he slept at all last night.

The vet opens at 9 and they should be calling me then.  I have to get my kids off to school so I'll check back with you guys later.

I just caught up on the thread this morning.  So sorry you are going through this!  We are an animal loving family too.  They really are like family members.  This year we dealt with the death of my daughters 12 year old rabbit.  It was amazing she lived as long as she did.  It was very hard on us, especially my daughter.  I told the kids the best thing we could do was keep her comfortable and make her feel loved until she passes.  I also reminded them that she had a great home and a good life and that they should all be proud of how well they cared for her.  It was a hard but good learning experience for them.  We have 2 cats a dog and 2 fish tanks. I hope the vet can help Dusty today.  Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.  Good luck.  And like others have said, take a few mins. for yourself if possible.

Well this is just great, first sale I've had in a month and a half and she first said she didn't mean to bid on one auction and meant to on another, then send a credit card payment thru paypal I don't accept, and now says she will NOT send a money order as she's had too many problems doing that. This is exactly my point I made months ago with NEW bidders who don't read the auctions or decide to not pay for something. We should, with all due respect have the ability to allow or disallow 0 feedback bidders to bid on our auctions!!!

Whoa Karen is fast, user already terminated, after I posted negative feedback for each unpaid auction, and getting credit for them momentarily. Got my hopes up for nothing on this sale, already packed it up, but didn't fill out labels yet, just had that feeling....

Hope this is a fluke, as it's my first npb here and my first in a year total.

Tim, bummer about the non-payer, but I'm sure that disallowing zero feedback bidders is not the solution. If I did that, I'd eliminate probably over 99% of my Wagglepop sales revenue.

I do strongly recommend accepting credit card payments through PayPal. I know that the fees are a drag, and I was very resistant to accepting credit card payments for years because I happen to be highly allergic to fees and things of that nature. But, when I started accepting credit card payments through PayPal (this was back when I only sold on eBay), my sales jumped about 600%. So is it worth the fees? Heck yeah. I did also raise my shipping costs enough to cover some or all of the PayPal fees for most items since most of my buyers do pay through PayPal.

Another option would be for you to open a Google Checkout account where you can accept credit cards fee free at least through the end of 2007.

I think it's very important for us to give the buyers as many payment options as possible and to make their buying experience here as easy as we can possibly make it!

I accept credit cards thru BIDPAY only, their fees are cheaper and are passed on to the bidder. You don't know how much the fee is until the bidder is done shopping, here I can add that after the auction is over, ebay I cannot, but the fee structures are mentioned in each auction what those fees are. I do not feel comfortable upgrading my account on paypal because that costs me for every payment I'd accept, and my items are at very reasonable costs already. There is no excuse to not send a money order or USE that as an excuse to fail to pay because you MAY have had a problem with it in the past. Every seller should be treated as such, until the prove otherwise. I'm as honest as they come, and I think my record should speak for itself, but if not, anyone is welcome to contact a past buyer and check me out themselves. IF I know the person that's different, but if they can't answer emails or aren't verified that is another story altogether.

Sorry that you had to deal with all that. Like always I see things a bit differently.

First of all, you recently posted a question asking how Karen would handle a similar situation. This is actually an opportunity for you to see Karen in action. I told ya didn't I? She's quick!

Now, I have to agree with Alison on everything she said. I also accept money orders just so I can have a secondary payment method but I don't expect anyone to actually use it. With gas prices going up, more people are shopping on line. For me the post office is a 15 mile drive that's if they stay open until they say they will. I have been there many times when they decide to close an hour early and then I have to make a second trip there. If I have to go through all that then I might as well just go to the store when I'm in town.

There are many people that are not comfortable surfing, let alone shopping on line. All they know is if you use Paypal you can get your money back if something goes wrong. They have no idea who you are and all the great feedback in the world won't make them trust you. They can only learn to trust you over time.

Although it was failure on your buyers part to not read carefully and she would have seen it, it is understandable if your buyer was new to buying online. If she accidentaly bid on something she didn't want, I'd say it's a good chance she was new to this.

There's nothing wrong with sellers taking certain precautions to protect themselves, but at this time on WP, blocking bidders wouldn't make any sense.

I think we should give the new bidders a chance just like some sellers did when we first started out.

Every other auction site has the ability to block 0 if you want, and at one point everyone is new, and I always listed if you're new and are interested please let me know and I'll override it for you, as long as you agree to the auctions terms first!
This saves me and them time, and I've never had a problem doing it that way in over 7 years.
She could have used a direct funding method (funds in paypal or used her bank account), and since her paypal had good history of the number of times she paid with paypal before, she also could have used echeck. She wasn't new to bidding, she was from ebay, and knew better or should have known that you actually read certain important factors before you bid, she just used the old excuse of not liking money orders after the fact to not pay for the items. IT was also in the invoice what I accept and she still chose to send a credit card payment. She knew what she was doing, she just figured I'd accept it anyways by the way she talked about it. Credit cards options are not even listed at the bottom of the page where you click buy now, and the auction itself says cc's are accepted thru bidpay only. She simply didn't care or chose not to hoping I'd do it her way. I'm not burger king, lol. The mere fact that minutes after she said she didn't want it, the next email was she already found the items elsewhere, so she had to of ignored my emails for days after I denied the payment before I decided to send her private message thru wp since she was not responding to my emails, and she was online and answered in less about 2 minutes when I sent her a message.

It was handled but the question remained I think you know the question I mean, it was never answered, just lucked out it didn't happen that way.

I don't think anything about the situation was cool at all.

Feedback is a silly stupid thing. Did she leave negative on you that got deleted?

She didn't do things your way, that I see, but what was wrong with just giving her negative feedback? Why was she removed/banned?

I think you might want to take a look at the rules on Paypal. If you do not accept credit cards, that must mean you have a Personal Account. They clearly state that if you "sell" online using Paypal, you MUST accept all forms of payment, have a premier account or business or willing to upgrade. Also, you may not communicate to buyers that you will only accept specific forms of Paypal payments.

As the old motto goes "the customer is always right". So, according to PP's rules, she had every right to pay any method she chose, as that is what she expects when she sees the logo.

Unfortunately I don't think that person will be coming back to WP or recommending it to many people in the near future.

The thing about having to accept all forms of payment thru paypal is for EBAY only, not WP. Ebay owns PP so they can make their own rules for accepting PP on ebay, but they can't tell me what I have to do on other sites. They will not tell me I have to pay additional fees to use it. I'll choose what's right for me, not what they want me to do. Even on ebay, when I do sell, I don't advertise I accept PP but after someone wins, I let them know I do IF they want to use it but only non cc payments. NOONE has ever complained about it and I have run across dozens of ppl that do it the same way on ebay too that are unhappy with the rising fees. They are trying to monopolize the system to give themselves extra money in fees, and I think they have enough of that as it is, don't you?

I do not HAVE to accept credit cards thru PP if I don't want to here. If she didn't like the rules, she shouldn't have bid, that simple. She just assumed I would do whatever she wanted, and I don't think she cared one way or the other about WP, being that she didn't read even the invoice I sent or answer any emails in days. I had to send a personal message just to get a response from her. She either closed the account herself or Karen booted her, not sure which. But I did post negative feedback for both unpaid auctions and she didn't post any negatives for me.

IF she chooses not to come back to WP that's her business but not my fault she sent unsavory emails or was rude about it not paying when I was respectful and helpful. My listings are clear and precise and I follow all rules that I am aware of, and as far as I know here, I don't have to accept cc thru paypal, and I won't. I'm not concerned about one person who clearly showed no interest in following rules from the moment she failed to answer any emails days before I even mentioned I didn't except cc's thru paypal. She is one out of over 1100 ppl I've done business with and my record shows how well I treat customers, so to me no, the customer is not always right, only respectful people with wisdom are capable of being correct.

Just because they own Ebay, and may state Ebay, it just isn't Ebay. I have emailed before and asked, have you?

It is called taxes. Merchants. People who sell stuff are considered a business, period.

Now you talk about how they should trust you and mail you a money order. Do take Personal Checks? I hope so. You should be giving them the trust you expect them to give you.

Are your customers supposed to run around the web researching your track record?

When she said she didn't want to send a money order, even though she was wrong that should have just been the end of it. The fact that she was terminated is abolutely amazing!

You may not care about one person, but what about all the other BUSINESS OWNERS that have stores here at WP? Ones who do not subscribe to YOUR idea of customer service, and accept all forms of payments that normal business' do. Do you think it is fair and ok that someone will never be coming back to WP to browse other stores??

You are free to run your business as you choose. But, the last thing WP needs is to have potential buyers never coming back.

Sorry, but a member being deleted and not allowed to shop on WP impacts every store owner here!!

If we started getting more sellers subscribing to your ideals of customer service, I would be the first in line to close my store.

Karma... thanks for the diversion... I needed that!!

As I read thru the post, I kept asking myself... "Block the 0 feedback buyers, don't block the 0 feedback buyers... what the difference? You need buyers first to be able to block them!!!" 

I don't know if any of you are Monthy Python and the Holy Grail fans but I kept thinking of the guy on the mountain with the horn hat that can throw fire balls.

Dusty is going to vet at 11:15 EST.  He is really having a hard time breathing.  He's on his side and I keep trying to get him to lay on his belly but I can't lift him high enough.  I have him half on his belly because he's propped up on blankets behind his back.

Bill is coming home to get him into the van and all.  This day sucks.  I keep getting small crying jags.  I talked to my daughter before she went to school.  I told her that I understood that she didn't want to talk about it yesterday.  I told her that it was OK to not want to talk about it.  I told her that she didn't have to be embarassed to cry or be mad that Dusty is sick and to remember that we all feel the same way too.  I held her and we sat and cried for 20 minutes while I told her that she should wash her face and brush her teeth and then she could have some private time with the dog so just in case he was too sick to come home, she would know that she gave him kisses and hugs and told him that she loved him.

So, thank you to everyone for your support over the past day.  I didn't mean to completely hijack this thread but you all helped me keep a portion of my sanity yesterday and today so I owe you all big time.
