Wow, I haven't been keeping up on wp lately and was so surprised at what I read over there, I had to smack my fingers to keep from posting.  I wonder how many changes they have made to their policies since last May.  I think their customers should be able to cancel their stores if they don't accept their new policy and get their money back!  I would certainly demand mine if I was still a member there.  Now that they have posted their great post, what new seller in their right mind would join knowing their 0 tolerance of anything!  I hope they put their post in their user agreement before a new customer agrees to sign up and pay them money.  I really believe the site will close within the week!

Another *odd* post...

I joined wagglepop only 3 days ago after deciding undoubtedly that i had to leave ebay. I found that I was paying almost 50% of my monthly sales out to ebay in fees over the last two quarters.
I was paying enough to cover several mortgages!
To pay out that kind of money I could have opened a brick & mortar (and probably work less) not relieving the issue that i absolutely must be home & have time available for my disabled child & all of his appointments.
I researched wp and found a few articles. It was not all that high on the charts on Powersellersunite. Yet I chose to come here.
The fees definately played a role but not in its entirety. I started reading through the community boards and noticed right away how you all relate to each other and the positive supportive attitudes you all had about wps success & the roles you all would like to play. I then read the companies newsletters, announcements, mission statement, philosophies and said I WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS! sure wp is ths underdog but wouldnt it be great to not only build my own business but to be a part of this amazing vision and help it to fruition.
I got all excited. Sat down and changed my url forwarding to my wp store. Crunched the numbers on what i would be saving in listing fees alone and said okay well I am going to take this portion of my savings out & dedicate it to sending out announcements to my 3000+ customers from my other store & marketing this store & site.
I then started listing my items and only got to about 5% of them when my fingers could go no more. Last night I wandered into the community boards and started reading after about 5 minutes I started to question every decision I made over the last 3 days. Wondering if this was for me. The postings were filled with a large amount of negativity and then to boot there were mentionings of way to many stores closing.
While it is wonderful to have a relationship with the other store owners. If you personally need to know if they are gone it should be done off the boards so not to discourage the newbies like myself who dont share that relationship and might automatically turn & run in the opposite direction.
After sleeping it on it or atleast trying to I decided to readopt my previous philosophy. We determine our own destiny. You (& I) are responsible for our own success. Instead of taking the time to to post negative announcements about your lack of sales..take a few bucks out of your pocket each week and send out a few postcards announcing your own store specials and include your store url. Tell every single person you know about the awesome auction site wagglepop where you found your latest dohickey. Leave a business card in every public restroom you ever use. dont wait for the business to come to you.go out & get it.

Well if this latest news from WP doesn't make the sellers run as fast as they can to the door than I don't know what will.   Basically what AndRay is telling them is you still pay your fees and we are going to do even less.   They are cutting back on CC and it looks to me like the newsletter and sales reports are history (how convenient for Ray) and marketing forget about it.  Also you as sellers will be allowed to say even less than before.   I don't think there is any way that the poppers can put a positive spin on this one.

Scoop, forgot to say congrats on the new grandbaby. Very cool!

I've thought so many times that sellers would run for the door after one fiasco or another, I wonder if this latest round will have a strong impact. More and more long-time poppers are leaving, but I think some are going to stay until Ray closes down. He won't do that as long as he's making money. I just hope they've at least backed up everything and started looking at alternatives.

First, I have a comment about "negative" posts. I think that publicly posting a "negative" post has the potential to turn off would-be buyers. I am an eBay education specialist and I teach my students NOT to be negative in their auction descriptions because I think nothing makes a GOOD buyer run away faster than "I will report you and leave you negative feedback for nonpayment" and "Don't bid on my stuff if you don't intend on paying", etc. A potential buyer sees that seller as hostile and would think "How would this seller handle a problem with my order if there was one?... well, I don't want to find out. Next seller please." Buyers also peruse community boards and they do know who are the frustrated, hostile, negative sellers. No one expects a bright sunny cheerleader doing cartwheels when it is raining cats and dogs outside... but who wants to be stuck indoors with someone who is forever moaning about the bad weather all day? Here in Texas we have had storm after storm after storm... flooding for months... and my kids have had several of their baseball games cancelled. You know what we did in the last storm? We bought hula hoops, pushed the table and couch to one side of the living room and we spent the day hula hooping. Better than staring outside at the rain puddles and crying about missed baseball games. You get the point.

Continuting with my "negativity" comment... what does it matter if one of your posts was pulled? Will knowing the reason change anything (for you or for others) and why do you think you are entitled to get a public acknowledgement of your removed post? I know this comment is not going to endear me to most people but I just had to say it. If WP doesn't work for you then part ways with the site on good terms -- pay your outstanding bill and then go try something else. Email those customers or other sellers who have become your friends to tell them you are "moving on" and then do it... move on. Let others here have a chance to sell their wares and perhaps some day in the future you might want to come back ... and having left on good terms, I am sure you'll be welcomed back with open arms.

I am here to give Wagglepop a try. I'm willing to invest several months of time and money to try, during which time I will not rely solely on WP to promote my items for me. If it doesn't work for me then I'll close my store and I'll do so with respect for the owners of this site; I'll thank them for allowing me advertise my wares here by paying any outstanding bill. Then I'll continue buying from other WP sellers if I am still interested in their products and their good customer service. I view my selling relationship with WP as one in which I am buying an advertising space here on their spot that they won and that they have spent time and money building. Our company pays thousands of dollars a year in advertising, some of which we see an instant return and some of which we never see a return on. If a particular advertising venue doesn't work for us then we move on and try something else until we find something that works.

Now having said all of that......

I was wondering what brought each of you here? Specifically, what brought you to WP rather than some other auction site?

For me personally, I was looking for an alternative to the big "E" to supplement by sales. There are many reasons I have been wanting to try some alternative auction sites. I SPECIFICALLY chose Wagglepop because:

1. First impression was great. The site looks crisp, good colors, sharp professional lines, and doesn't have google ads plastered all over it. Very warm and inviting. Very professional.

2. After researching I saw that many sellers had obviously taken the time to create wonderful stores. I could see the effort and caring that had gone into creating some of the stores and stocking the WP stores with lots of different inventory. It made me want to buy... and I did! I've purchased from three different sellers so far and I'm no where near done purchasing from other sellers.

3. When I joined, the community board posts were mostly positive and there seemed to be a sense of "community". And I saw the caretakers of WP attempting to make improvements for sellers and taking an interest in improving the site. I do not envy them. [b]I know what it takes to manage a website and I cannot even imagine what they must have to do to manage an auction website. My hats are off to them. I respect them and am willing to give WP a try without putting the entire burden of "generating traffic" on their shoulders. It's all about the people... the owners of the site and the other sellers. I hope to get the opportunity to purchase from a good many other sellers and really look forward to getting to know what each one specializes in that makes them and their stores so special and unique. I like purchasing from a seller who is obviously passionate about their wares, which I see a great deal of (passion) here at Wagglepop.

This question may have been asked before (forgive me I'm a newbie): Was there a particular reason that you chose to open a Wagglepop store?

How interesting that this shows up just when the WP ship is sinking fast : "I am here to give Wagglepop a try. Hey all, long time no see!

I just caught up on this thread... find it hard to fathom all that's transpired in the past few days!

To everyone who's abandoned ship (or been forced to walk the plank!) and found their way here, welcome! I hope your selling life post-WP brings oodles of success to you all!

I'm still selling via my Web site, but since mid-May, have also been working full-time as the secretary at my daughter's school, which has made staying on top of things a wee bit difficult!!! I'll get a breather during July/August when the school is closed for the summer, and then will be back to work in September. (My Mom was thrilled to find out I now have a 'real' job... LOL!)
