An an FYI for the Poppers who have abandoned eBay and missed the Live Keynote last night. FVFs for auctions/fixed price will be lowered this summer. A stores tab is forthcoming. Powersellers are actually going to get preferred placement on searches. I'm not saying eBay is for everyone or that these changes are anything to pull out pom poms about, but please tell me HOW WP thinks for one second they're going to compete with eBay? WP was never in the same league with eBay - so what exactly is meant by "the right place at the right time"?
As I understood this, the prices would be lowered for a time during the summer...not permanently. I also heard/read somewhere that the new feedback thing - rate your seller - was going to be a deciding factor as to where your items would end up in a search. At the top of the page or at the bottom. When I shop for something, I dont' care if it's a "Power Seller" or a "Little Guy" - I just want the item to show up in searches... I think a large auction site like Ebay should charge to list an item (*no charge for gallery but charge for bold etc...) and set a fair final value fee of a certain percent and if the item sells, put the listing charge toward the FVF. There should be no charge for gallery because the gallery picture certainly does help the shopper decide weather to look at an item or not and helps the sale of that item which in turn helps the auction site gain more FVF's. What amounts should be set, who knows... I know some places don't charge at all. But in all reality, in effort to run a healthy business and keep up the equipment etc...there has to be some revenue. I really liked the look and feel of Wagglepop and if it weren't for Ray, I'd stay...

Congrats Shelley, Speaking of Books...Do any of you have Rob Fitzgerald's Translation of The Odyssey? I am looking to purchase a used one for my daughters summer reading project. She has to take notes in the book. She wants to get started on it right away...lol
Thanks guys! You sometimes wonder if you open a personal store whether it's just going to disappear into the black hole of cyberspace! At least I know someone's finding it, well two for starters! LOL! Christine - sorry, I don't have a copy of that particular book, but thanks for asking. Looks like there's a pile of them on bookfinder http://www.bookfinder.com/search/?author=fitzgerald&title=the+odyssey&lang=en&submit=Begin+search&new_used=*&destination=ca¤cy=USD&binding=*&isbn=&keywords=&minprice=&maxprice=&mode=advanced&st=sr&ac=qr :turkey2: |

I bolded the famous line above. Of course this person cannot EVER post something without the usual Ebay mention. The friends of Ray need to make sure that the sellers continue to think it is ebay infiltrators blah blah blah!!
You know, I got tired of this really quickly, even when I was on WP. Does anyone really believe this crap? eBay has always had nay-sayers - shoot, there's a whole, very active, website forum (PSU) against eBay! Have any of these nay-sayers ever really truly brought down a good selling site? NO THEY HAVEN'T! If an auction site brings in buyers, no matter what anyone says about the site, sellers are going to stay there - selling too! Not just talking about 'getting all ready to sell'. WP isn't bringing in sellers because no one knows about it! There is no advertising other than what store owners are doing themselves. I haven't even actively advertised my store on eCRATER and have already sold more on there than I ever did on WP! The other reason I think is because of the owner - not nay-sayers or any 'competition' sites - once you've dealt with Ray, you don't want to line his pockets at all. If you go to any store and are treated with total disrespect and still expected to fork over your money... would you go back? |

I'll try harder next time. I started it and then we got busy doing something else and by that time I had lost initial interest. Too many irons in the fire at the time. Another WP store closed a bunch of listings today... Happy Friday Everyone. Hope everyone has a nice weekend...
As I understood this, the prices would be lowered for a time during the summer...not permanently.
Correct, it's lowered for the summer. I should have said that more clearly in the post. I'll go edit
I agree, except that.. I work my butt off. My DSRs show 5 stars for description. My lowest rating is shipping cost with 4.7. I would like to be advantaged over sellers that charge $45.00 handling fees or take 30 days to ship or don't bother to answer customer questions or write complete descriptions. I don't necessarily think that being a Powerseller should be the only requirement (and from what I understand it won't be), but those who show a solid record of customer service should have this added incentive.
I think a large auction site like Ebay should charge to list an item (*no charge for gallery but charge for bold etc...) and set a fair final value fee of a certain percent and if the item sells, put the listing charge toward the FVF.
I know some places don't charge at all. But in all reality, in effort to run a healthy business and keep up the equipment etc...there has to be some revenue. I really liked the look and feel of Wagglepop and if it weren't for Ray, I'd stay...
I think most of us felt that way. Just got sick of the BS.... Like Moon said, there are lots of free sites out there offering just as much (if not more) than WP. To me, it really isn't about cost anyway. It's about ROI. If I pay, I expect something in return. I honestly hate eBay, but it does something that no other site (except my own) has done - returned every penny of my investment and way beyond. Even if we set aside personal feelings about the owner, WP didn't come close. Break-even doesn't pay the bills. Edited to add: I should say that I know people are successful at other paid sites like Amazon. I just haven't ventured there yet. I didn't mean to imply that eBay is the only paid site that will be profitable.

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
I'll ask forgive me if off topic
for my own web site i need 1. a domain name( already own that and it's parked) 2. a host such as tulips tools that i see to my left side of screen that is 3.79 a month 3. do i need a ssl certificate or does tt hosting comes with that? 4. is there any way to design a site on TT with no html, or do i need to learn that before even trying to get the hosting? 5. i have a merchant acc on retail that allows me online transactions, so i could just collect the cc info and process it, or use google or paypal pro. please note that this is more of a learning experience for me, i don't expect huge traffic overnight, so i am willing to go on slow steps. website would have Christian books, bibles, Cd's and DVDs all suggestions are welcome |
