River, et. al. I second what Sherrand just said. All GTC listings will remain active until KaRayAnd decides to close them -- today, tomorrow, never. It matters not if you've been banned, close on your own volition, send a thousand messages to CC, stand on your head while you juggle and drink Koolaid, or whatever feats of acrobatic achievement you may display. The listings STAY on the tote board -- period. ::: snip ::: Case in point - I dealt with one seller who vanished last fall. I placed an order with her in late September or early October. Never received an invoice, never heard from her after repeated attempts; finally purchased my item from scoop's WP store. Her store disappeared sometime in November, yet she still has many, many active items. This is just a few of them:
Well, isn't that just lovely! I haven't seen that make-up lady for months and there her listings sit. Like I got nothing f**king better to do than spend hours de-listing! Arrrgggh!
All of us have sure had to work hard for the money - Ray's money. All that work to list and list and list. I have a Mac and my listings would never appear aligned to the left, only centered when I used Safari. I had to use Netscape to change the alignment. But I couldn't use Netscape to do the listings from the beginning because it wouldn't work for the selling page, only the edit page. And there's not an updated IE for Mac. Thank goodness I never listed thousands of items. It was just too much work and I wasn't about to do it unless I made enough sales, which I never did. Then we have to work just as hard to get our listings off the dang site. Quite a racket Ray's got there. Even when he only has 100 stores, that's $1000 a month! Grrrrrr!
My apologies to Vas, who apparently is female. I wasn't there from day one, but don't remember this poster at all and I joined WP in the middle of July. Can anyone explain her sudden Koolaid-laced Adrenalin rush? Did Karen pass the pink slipper torch onto her? Something definitely wrong with this picture. Edit: Oh, and thanks Karma Grems. I appreciate your generosity. Wanna try for an encore? <---------------- CLICK HERE
This is what Vas (I thought was male to) said about me when I was trying to close my store. The way I understand that it works is, if you do not pay your invoice, listings or not your store will close around the 19th of the month. It's that simple. Now, if you could redirect all that energy from these boards and into the garden I'll bet you will probably have the most beautiful flower bed in your yard. See how pretty my flowers grew since I left and went elsewhere. That was before Karen left.
FH, I remember that post! And can vouch it was there. The listing you brought up Cash for Scott is closed in that you can't bid on it. It like being able to view completed listings on eBay - just formatted differently.
The one thing you can never afford to lose is your temper.

Then we have to work just as hard to get our listings off the dang site. Quite a racket Ray's got there. Even when he only has 100 stores, that's $1000 a month! Grrrrrr!
I didn't have thousands of listings, but I did have hundreds, each unique. At the time I started closing shop, Ray was raking in $10K a month, and with every hour I spent de-listing, I got madder and madder. At that time, no one knew the listings stayed on the tote after the stores were closed, but I didn't want to have one iota of presence on WP. I was ashamed and embarrassed to have ever been associated with WP, and didn't want ANY of my customers to find any evidence of me there. I held my tongue and flew low to avoid the radar for the many days and exasperating hours it took to shrink my store to zero. The pressure was building like a can of shaken soda pop. Ending my last listing was not only a cause for celebration, but the official opening of the pop top. I spewed all over TT, and my posts somehow found their way to PSU, Sneaky Dave and The Ross Show. And right behind me there were cheerleaders ready to defend their cult leader with the devotion of the Branch Davidians. Whether readers believed me or them was of no consequence. I just wanted those contemplating taking the plunge into Poopland or for those who already fell into Ray's snare to see the OTHER side, get ALL the facts, weigh the good, the bad and the ugly and THINK for themselves, as sane, serious business owners. And that's why I've stay on this thread. I do wonder how many Poopers have stores open simply because it's too much trouble to de-list and close, or don't want to face the wrath of KaRayAnd when they request closure of their accounts. Nancy, so sorry about your mom. I'm in the same boat with mine
De-listing is a must. Really bad IF any buyers come and nobody's home. Great job on the informational post miranda! I'm already on my fifth ID and don't want the hassle of the phone registration, so I'm still being very quiet over there. :blinkie:

The lack of enthusiasm is underwhelming. For the most part, it appears Vas's efforts to rally the gladiators to battle has been about as effective as a fart in a wind tunnel.
Your blunt eloquence in wording always makes me laugh! Scott didn't sit well with me just from his posts - always reminded me of the blowhard trying to pump himself up to make up for something he's lacking. Personality, penis, character...? You can decide for yourself what he was trying to compensate for as he puffed himself up. |

Quote:XXXXXXX 19 Jun 2007 19:10 Huh? How can you possibly "learn" by researching completed listings on an active marketplace and apply it to WP? I search completed listings to see WHAT is selling and for how much. Since the sell thru ratio (illogical as it may be) would not even be in the same stadium, let alone playing field, what could you possibly learn?

Quote: Nancy sorry to hear about your Mom. I went through this same thing with my Mom a couple of years back. She did go through the chemo it was not easy and we thought we were going to lose her a couple of times but she made it through and is doing well now. I really hope everything turns out ok for your Mom too. Take care. Goodness. My mom doesn't want to go through chemo at her age, etc etc etc. I guess I can understand, but I'm being selfish.......I want her to have it and to stay around longer. I'll take care of her, I would to give my dad a break and my sibs would too, I know they would. I don't know, we'll see what Thursday brings. |
