Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens

Maybe it will drop below 50 after the bloodbath this month, and I will feel a little better about online scam auction site owners.

Even if the stores drop to 50 and all were merely "basic" stores, Ray would still be scamming MORE from these sellers and into his fuzzy slipper fund than he already would be doing at the present 125 store level at $9.95/mo.

50 X $29.95 = $1497.50
125 X $9.95 = $1243.75

Store count would have to go down to 41 before his pocket would take a hit, at which point he would probably (a) whine like a baby with a 2-ton load in his diaper for more money (b) raise the store fees AGAIN and give the canned "deadbeat/non-loyal/life's a nasty kangaroo" speech, and/or © threaten to cut services further if loyalists   -drinkers don't put on their chicken suits and stand on the street corner to get Ray business.

Hello Wagglepop Members,

I have pledged to myself to be a little more active on the Community boards the second half of this year and thought I would post a general update for membership about the dynamics shaping Wagglepop's future currently.

As anticipated, we continue to see the "self purging" of legacy SSP merchants - sellers who are leaving and choosing not to migrate to SmartSell Enterprise. We anticipate that specific dynamic continuing through the end of June billing processing. The end result will be a smaller merchant representation, but a more dedicated and focused one.

For me personally this exodus further illustrates that our decision to tighten the Wagglepop Marketplace and focus on our serious merchants was the right one - if what we offer with Wagglepop under SSE at less than one dollar per day cannot be clearly recognized "in volume" as an incredible opportunity, then nothing we say or do as a company can give vision to those who cannot see it.

Customer Care is steadily reporting an increse in productivity, spending more time assisting our dedicated merchants with selling solutions rather than dealing with complaints and "less than dedicated" (at best) inquiries and efforts.

We project a total Marketplace of between 75-100 dedicated and serious merchants (Stores) as an ongoing sustainable target and one that we can market and support.

In general, the "vibe" has been better here for us with less "looking for the cheapest venue where I can do the least work possible" 30-60-90 day'ers and more focus on keeping our high standard of service and care for those who have been here selling and continue to be here.

Wagglepop Marketshare is near completion and we should see introduction within the next few weeks. Simply stated, with the traffic that we get each month we need to populate the site and make available the items and products that shoppers are looking for. Marketshare will simply supplement the items and products provided by our merchants in the Marketplace. We think it will do much to build our overall reputation as a great place to shop.

The We The People Leadership Council member appointments will be announced shortly, along with the dynamics that will give membership a direct voice into the future of Wagglepop. We have always considered the single most valuable voice into our direction that of membership.

Expect the beta introduction of the new Search and Browse results shortly as well. We will be looking for reaction to the new display sets, so please let us know your reactions to the new appearance sets once introduced.

Perhaps most exciting of all, we are considering a general corporate expansion - through completely new selling venues and sites - sites similar to Wagglepop but different in the ways that might add exposure and traffic to your items and products and a slightly different shopping experience for your potential buyers.

While many of the plans (and evolutions) we had for the original vision of Wagglepop will not and cannot be fulfilled today, much of what we have already done or invested allows us some unique opportunities to leverage that into limited expansions. Our general plans include some form of self ownership or profit sharing type dynamic as the foundation point of this expansion initiative. Expect public polls on this subject in the not-too-distant future.

On an absolutely personal note, I for one am extremely happy to finally have changed our focus to support of those who wish to be here and understand the opportunity we represent rather than one of constant policing and 30-60-90 crowd processing. These are serious times for serious sellers, and as a businessperson I am relieved to be shaping Wagglepop's future as one that supports soley that dynamic.

One of the final vestiges of the old vision is processing of overdue accounts and I have authorized in house referrals for any and all deliquent accounts not yet referred outside. I expect to be able to introduce some form of account amnesty shortly. Accounts with circumstances that require legal action will be sent to our legal department and considered no longer the day to day responsibility of Account Protection & Security.

I am unsure overall what and where online sellers in general are looking for outside of eBay, but I believe we have made it clear who we are as a company moving forward and what we represent. There are lots of "free" alternative venues out there, or sellers can remain at eBay and wait for the next round of fee increases and policy changes.

Wagglepop will continue to represent the very best for those looking for a well supported, top performing, and feature rich selling venue.

We know from our own observations of successful Wagglepop (and many online) sellers that one of the keys to a successful business plan is a diversity of approaches and venues.

For example, many of our Marketplace Merchants continue to use eBay, or their own standalone ecommerce sites, or smaller independent venues.

To us, that signals a "need" and where there is that need we see an opportunity - to possibly expand from a single site to a family of independent but related sites.

We have in the course of our research visited and tested the dynamics behind many of the very small "shared server" type sites, and found the great majority to be severely lacking in performance, features, search engine exposure, results, and customer service - all things that we specialize and take great pride in and now carry the experience of being able to reproduce.

Some of our experiences with these sites would border on the comical if it was not such a serious subject.

There are many possibilities, and our existing resources from the creation and development of Wagglepop would allow us to expand efficiently and relatively quickly and in doing so give sellers more ways and places to gain exposure and traffic.

Expansion could mean that in the future, participation and achievement on Wagglepop may be a doorway to participation on various other equally effective Wagglepop-supported sites. For serious sellers with the desire to grow and diversify an expansion within our existing high standards of operation could represent a huge opportunity.
