eBay's Bill Cobb Gets Booed During eBay Live Keynote Address
eBay Live keynote address:
Quote:Whitman said beginning July 19th, PayPal will begin protecting sellers from credit card chargebacks when they have been shown to have fulfilled their obligation under the PayPal dispute resolution process: "There will be no double jeopardy on buyer disputes," she said. Quote:The most serious moments of the evening came when Bill Cobb addressed the issue of "Stores in Search" (SIS). When he described the rollback of SIS, a number of attendees booed, the first time in five years that eBay Live attendees booed during a keynote address. Quote:Cobb addressed Trust & Safety issues as they relates to global trade, and said selling cross-border is a privilege, not a right. Starting later this year, sellers will need to meet a higher seller verification requirement for cross border trading. It will vary by country. In order for foreign sellers to sell in the U.S., they will have to be PayPal verified or have a credit card merchant account. |

Even given the negative response, they likely won't change plans. >

PayFraud Amanda always says PayScam fights hard to protect sellers from chargebacks. Has she been lieing all this time? |

"I don't think blogging and wiki technology could be put in better hands than the eBay Community," said Cobb.
Funny. (Or not.) I thought eBay was supposed to be an ecommerce site. You know . . . a place where folks buy and sell things. |

Listen to Mr. Bill's keynote on eBay Radio:
http://www.wsradio.com/internet-talk.cfm...-2006.html "that fool" spoke to "the community" today: Quote:***A Message from Bill Cobb from eBay Live! in Las Vegas***Â

Re: eBay's Bill Cobb Gets Booed During eBay Live Keynote Address
Quote:As Meg pointed out if the eBay Community were a nation, wed be the fifth largest in the world. Wow. According to Wikipedia: Quote:The 5 largest nation in the world in both area and population is Brazil 8,514,877 km which includes Arquipélago de Fernando de Noronha, Atol das Rocas, Ilha da Trindade, Ilhas Martim Vaz, and Penedos de São Pedro e São Paulo I can definitely see some similarities between Brazil and eBay. |

Re: eBay's Bill Cobb Gets Booed During eBay Live Keynote Address
Quote:selling internationally on eBay should be a privilege, not a right Let me try that one out on my paying customers and see how well it goes over: "Buying from me is a privilege not a right" . I think I'll include my new motto in all communications with buyers, on my web site, everywhere!. I think eBay has it backwards. The $1500 in average monthly fees we paid them in 2003 on our main ID was a privilege eBay enjoyed not a right--as evidenced by the fact that we took that almost $18,000 yearly privilege away from them and they now receive ZERO. |
