Tell me why there is no ebay search in the upper right hand corner of his landing page?

Because he is either a Featured or Anchor store and has minimized the header, which removes the eBay search box.

Now, I did a search for a specific item that I know a competitor sells in Store.  Sure enough, the 25th item down the listings, showed that item by that competitor and it was NOT an auction, just a Store Listing.

We've tested several alternatives and these tests showed the ideal approach is how we're doing it today – that is, when a buyer's search returns 30 or less core listings, we display up to 30 Store Inventory listings. This is what we'll stick with going forward.

eBay has said it does not expect a proposed strike by some of its sellers to cause any major disruption on Tuesday...

eBay has played down the strike. In a statement the auction site said: "The changes only affect those sellers who have shops on eBay.co.uk and we do not anticipate that this shop owner protest will disrupt the buying and selling activity of the vast majority of our more than 15 million customers."


"We consulted with a number of both buyers and sellers prior to the announcements being made – and the changes were clearly communicated on the eBay website and via email/phone communication to all affected sellers; however, a small but vocal group of our eBay.co.uk shop owners are dissatisfied with these changes which they believe may affect their businesses on eBay." ...

Another user warned that: "For sellers it will cost us more, and for buyers they will end up having to pay more as sellers put fees up to compensate."

Rosie Johnson of the eBay PowerSeller Team responded to these complaints by explaining that: "The reason they [the seller fees] have increased is not to increase eBay's revenue but to encourage members to move from using shop listings to using the normal core listings. This is because around 90 percent of all successful listings are core listings, however around 80 percent of all listings on the site are shop listings. This is a lot of wasted space on the site."...

The fact that the UK strike has received significant coverage on all the major media outlets in the UK means the strike achieved one of its primary aims.

Both QXL UK and eBid UK have benefitted from eBay's fee hike announcement.  The QXL UK site now shows 188,000 items listed on its front page and eBid UK is up to 226,000 items and 2,700 stores (eBid US has also benefitted and is up to 200,000 items and 725 stores).
