Re: Atlantic storm names may go Greek!
Rita went from a Category 2 to a Category 5 in a really short time, seems like it was little more than a day. There are at least two more days until it hits land. Is it possible that this storm could get even stronger? I do not know if there even is a Category 6.
I know that the land in Galveston has subsided a lot as a result of oil drilling. I think it was 20 feet in elevation that had been lost years ago when I took Geology, surely more now. Anybody know if Galveston is below sea level?

Re: Atlantic storm names may go Greek!
On a quick search, it looks like its from 3-10 feet above sea level depending on the part of the city. The US Geological Survey lists its elevation as 10 ft.

When I heard about Rita I was thinking that were too many hurricanes this season.
