SSH also has many vulnerabilities and can leave your system vulnerable if the person installing it didn't take proper security measures when installing.  Also, hackers seek out the standard port 22 that most administrators configure SSH to use because they know where to look when trying to break-in.  Configuring your SSH to connect via a different port can cut down greatly on the number of daily attacks (the average dedicated server receives dozens of break-in attempts via port 22 daily).
