Google Launches Google Apps for your Domain

Starting Monday, organizations will be able to offer members or employees Web-based e-mail, calendar, chat and Web page publishing hosted by Google for free.

Google plans to announce on Monday a beta version of Google Apps for Your Domain, which includes Gmail with 2 gigabytes of storage, Google Calendar, Google Talk and Page Creator...

The Google Apps for Your Domain service will allow organizations to outsource their communications applications to Google and to customize the user interface with their own branding and color scheme...

Google plans to add a new start page feature to its Google Apps for Your Domain package of Web applications, which was launched in August. The Start Page, planned for a Monday unveiling, will serve as a central access point for the applications that come bundled in the package, including things like e-mail, news, weather, map and calendar, product manager Mike Horowitz said...

"This is not a portal," Horowitz said. "This is just a start page based on Google Personalized Home Page."...

Both the organizations that offer the applications and their users can customize the Start Page...Gateway has already launched a Start Page for its customers...
