The movie role was offered by Bernsen in exchange for a snowglobe of the rock group Kiss, as part of the red paper clip trade-up scheme started by Kyle MacDonald, formerly of Montreal. Last July, MacDonald began seeking trades for a red paper clip on EBay, hoping to trade up to a house.

It took 14 trades, starting with a pen, but he did get his house -- in Kipling. The publicity attracted big names, including Alice Cooper and Bernsen, who participated in the trade-up scheme and helped shine a spotlight on a Prairie town of just over 1,100...
