Me thinks some of the drinking shooting stars with thousands of listing are insiders.
Who in their right mind in ebay's current climate would lists thousands upon thousands of items. That's a lot of $$$ EVERY month to pay in listing fees. Unless they pay no fees.

Re: OK - I got a bit giddy on the ebay Stores Board
Quote:Very important to spend a lot of time researching the sales history of products that consignors propose to bring you (Spend time looking at completed items). Give them 50 per cent. Sell it like this. "You will receive 50 cents on every dollar that your items sell for, Ebay approximately 15 cents, we take 35 cents." Initially many people will test you by bringing in what they consider their lower end antiques, etc. Oftentimes your sales success will open the way to their high end stuff. That was just about the funniest responses I've ever read to a satirical post... I just about wombat poo poo myself reading it! In case anyone missed it, the "cutesy cuddly kiddie's plush toys" was a dig at Marty's Funny Friends... It IS funny how often I've heard him mention the SLOW ECONOMY is hurting ebay... Supporting Chinese made products is reeeeeaaaalllllly good for the economy, Marty. DUH - OH, that's right... your business is an exception to the rest of us....
Me thinks some of the drinking shooting stars with thousands of listing are insiders. Who in their right mind in ebay's current climate would lists thousands upon thousands of items. That's a lot of $$$ EVERY month to pay in listing fees. Unless they pay no fees.
That was one of my points, xpp... the cheerleaders just assume that we all have time to consign items, never mind our own wares. If you're "rigged" for turning out lots of ebay auctions (or store items, for that matter), and can pump out 3,4,500 or more auctions a week, consigning really isn't a bad idea... but where your own products go from there is a mystery. In our local area here, the main ebay consignor charges $2.50 to list each item then charges 35% of the sale price... not sure if they deduct ebay fees or not. In todays world of an ebay sell-through of around 40%(which I personally believe to be an inflated number), consigning is ideal, if that what you want to do. The cheerleaders think that everyone should want to do it. I don't have the time, desire, space, nor energy to consign other people's items, and for that, I'm an ebay failure! One thing is for certain in this new ebay world... ebay has made is more difficult to offer bargains on their site... buyers WILL leave if the choices of bargains continues to decline. After all, why else would anyone shop ebay other than to find below bargain basement prices. (I was scorned for saying that once from a seller who lists glassware for $300+ dollars and accepts best offers at < $200.) On a side note... I see Bell posted on OTWA today... are you slumming Bell?? |

There is no doubt that ebay sell-through of around 40% is WRONG. It's more closer to 25% now if you gage what we see from posters and if you take the time to use one of the sales snooping tools to SEE what some of these supposed BIG time sellers are really selling. IMO medved has either been PAID off to pad the numbers or ebay simply has a way to pad them at the severs. :
Yah Bell... fluff is one of the beneficiaries of the regular drops in ebay insertion fees for items starting at 99p... her profit comes from her shipping, which is compounded by the fact that she does not combine shipping and charges $6.00 (and up?) to ship earrings and other tiny trinkets. Yep.. a real ebay success story! And although she posts somewhat regularly at OTWA, her posts are merely interjections of flippant remarks and strong opinions... rarely (if ever?) serving up any assistance to anyone. Quote:IMO medved has either been PAID off to pad the numbers or If I were a bettin' man... I'd bet the numbers are being SPOON FED to medved. |

With some types of merchandise you need to list thousands of items. |
