What is the diff between static and dynamic as applied to url's?[/quote] If you create a .html page and upload it to your server it is static. The server will fetch that pre-made page each time a visitor requests the page. If a page is generated (created) on the fly by a program every time a visitor requests it the page is dynamic. Many times you can't tell that a page is dynamic just by looking at the URL. The following pages all are dynamic: Code: http://community.tuliptools.com/index.php?action=viewblog;u=47;id=18 Pages 2,3,4 use Apache's mod_rewrite to change the URL to a more search engine friendly format but they are still dynamic pages. |

Re: SEO URL naming tips
Here is my question about search friendly urls or maybe my contention
after reading the article in this thread. I have a product and it url is: http://www.mysite.com/product_info.php?cPath=12&products bla bla bla SEE the php?cPath=12&products? This is the part that concerned me after reading the article the "?" Seems this is not search friendly and is why I say: I think it can be over come by having good content on your main page and search engine friendly URLS where ever possible through out the site. Pages with the .html or htm as opposed to pages with the ? sting. I'm really not sure about this, but I have converted all my old pages (still active that are being picked up and indexed and have good placement) to look like my NEW pages but all those pages have .htm or HTML at the end. For example: oscMax pulls dynamic product pages up as: http://www.mysite.com/product_info.php?cPath=12&products bla bla bla But the old site (still active) pulls up pages that LOOK just like the oscmax pages visually but are like this: http://www.mysite.com/mycoolwidget1.HTML SEE??? PS I think an "Apache mod" is and Indian girl in a swim suit ad.
