Tom is living in the past. He just can't get through his head that the Ebay of today is not the same Ebay which made him a Hall of Famer. It's kind of sad. |

I've read this guys posts and stuff and was scratching my head.
My thought was that he was just trying to keep spirits up because well.. he can't sell any logos to newbies if the newbies decide not to open a store or bother to PAY for some logo they can do themselves for FREE. I should have known he has been DEEP doo doo dipping into the  bowl. :

It's like paying for some store in a shopping strip, then having some guy come and sell homemade products on the back of his used yugo, parked in front of your front door. If he makes any money whatsoever, he's happy, because he never calculates his overhead and mistakes any money for profit. Same with the hobby sellers, if they make any money whatsoever they're happy (whether it's profit or not). Nothing wrong with hobby sellers, but eBay store owners that don't realize that they'll be competing against that are in for a big surprise.

I refer to myself as a hobby seller because I wasn't dependent on my eBay sales. I had no plans to give up my night job.
I took it all very seriously. I DID keep records and did make money.. just a few extra hundred bucks a month that came in handy at the time. Side money. Oh, and I enjoyed selling my vinyl to people that wanted it and some Pfalzgraf (sp?) stuff that people went wild bidding on. Stuff like that. When I had to pay for listings that weren't showing up and had to revise every time eBay came up with a new enhancement that didn't work... THAT is when selling became a losing battle. I enjoyed finding unique items to buy also. |

Anita,
I think you had more business sense as a hobby seller than most. I'm talking more about the people that go the whole year, then realize they never made a profit. In fact, their credit card is maxed out on google adwords and ebay listing fees. They just can't figure out how they never made a profit, because sales were "great". |
