WebAssist eCart with Dreamweaver Extensions

Dreamweaver extensions basically add features beyond those Adobe includes. WebAssist offers a wide range of them — 15 to be exact — including eCart, shopping cart software designed to give Dreamweaver users a way to build and customize e-commerce sites.

Another difference between eCart and other shopping carts, Ott said, is that small business owners and Web professionals can build as many stores as they like with eCart at no additional cost...

A new version of WebAssist's eCart has been released:

Today WebAssist announced the release of eCart 4, which the company describes as a major upgrade that features a step-by-step wizard to build a checkout application, multi-language button support and increased payment gateway options.

Eric Ott, president of WebAssist, said that eCart's integration into the Adobe platform through Dreamweaver differs from hosted e-commerce services such as MonsterCommerce, ProStores and Yahoo Stores, because eCart and Dreamweaver together allow for a more personalized storefront.

"Monster Commerce, Yahoo and ProStores are approachable, but not customizable. People want professional designs," Ott said. "They don't want designs that look clipart-ish."...

There is no free trial offered, so I purchased the software license rather than subscribing----------they offer a  30-day money back guarantee on the software only.
I'll let you  know more as I play with it. With the addition of more payment gateway options, this cart could be a really good thing for dreamweaver users. In my case, I am thinking of possible use in the future to avoid purchasing additional licenses from xcart.

ecommtemplates offers single templates for dreamweaver to use with their cart.  You can purchase the generic version and do the design yourself, but for the price,  I would still prefer to purchase the webassist software as I believe it offers greater functionality and ease of use. .

Okay, I installed it, set up a test site in Dreamweaver, and just tried to insert a cart object onto a page. Ecart displayed a message: "To enable ecart, please select a server model.". :blinkie:


I have no idea what a server model is or what to select.

Thanks, Kristijntje! I did search the help documentation and didn't find anything that seemed relevant. They do talk about server behaviors for specific tasks, such as checkout. Not about overall s. behavior.

I am thinking I may be in over my head.
