Re: Stupid Companies Dept.: eBay Shampoo Seller Accused of Copyright Infringement
Basically it is a scare tactic.
A small business person armed with information can easily fend off such erroneous lawsuits. Think about this. Who has the most to loose financially. The small biz or the large one? Even if a large company is successful all the get is a court order. Small guy don't have to worry about $$ being taken from them in most cases. They can't "take" what you don't have. Anyone with an ounce of sense and a computer can play the same paper game the big boys play. They send papers you send papers this can go back and forth for a very long time. Eventually if the case is week. HQ sees they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to fend off pennies? It's a fun game and the BIG boys don't always automatically win.

I fought an asphole once because he thought his poopy-lawyer-scare-tactics were going to scare me off into not fighting for what was owed to me. Not only did I fight back... I WON! The jerkwad had to pay me TWICE the amount that was owed because he was wrong and was penalized for not paying within a specified amount of time. ;D |
