Someone in the SRG grilled Marty on his list of 5. His answers make me think the whole thing is horsepucky, except for the bit about Ebay running a search test based on feedback. He claims it is happening now but when asked how that would benefit or hurt sellers with lower feedback numbers, he skated right around that one.

(If he actually knows anything at all, his non-disclosure agreement with Ebay is probably stopping him from saying more.)

Then he says:

Many of the thoughts above by others are also true statements about rolling traffic , etc. Generally speaking when eBay is spending money bringing people to the site its like a tidal wave that you see.

I think Marty just gets excited and reports on trends he sees in his own store...due to the whole search manipulation thing. All I know is that on Friday, I had a whopping 3 sales...and that's better than my average has been all week since March. Some of the others are saying they have nothing after previously having daily sales. It's like the switch was flipped.

I just don't "get" why they are so willing to invest all that time and energy on these constant workarounds, bits of gossip, hints from on high, etc. And in this case, should Marty's information or intuition be wrong, they will be wasting money as well. It's just plain crazy.
