Re: Bad customer service cited as #1 reason Chinese auction users hate eBay
At my site I explain why I don't have a CS number
and answer e mails so fast the customers are in shock.

The new online operator we have has also already converted
a abandoned shopping cart to a sale.

At first I thought is was one of you guys playing around
but just stayed the course of the conversation.
The person chimed in and stated they ordered the wrong item and
asked a few questions, and even went and did it again a few times.
(Ordered wrong)

End result.
A follow up email turned a frustrated obviously non Internet savvy guy, into a sale.

Got to love that.

How do you explain that? Not being a smartasp, just something I may want to consider in the future.

What do you mean by Online Operator?

LivePerson / LiveChat = online operator (Volusion)

For my sites currently, I'm not offering a customer service number. I'll be getting a dedicated line in the future, but right now, I don't have one.

I simply explain that we don't currently have a fully devoted department--and we guarantee lightning fast email, web help ticket, or live chat help.

www.volusion.com

LiveChat helped me cement MANY orders on my previous website. people would have simple questions that they wouldn't waste time calling or emailing about--but which could make or break a sale.

Xppman and I are trying Volusion (FREE!!), instead of LivePerson. Seems cool.

The only problem I see is that I'd have to be in front of my computer all the time. Ahem.. unlike now. Damn you, TT, I really do have other things I need to do.

Isn't that worse, though? "Help not available. Come back when it's convenient to me."

Edited to add: But I like your explanation above.
