SAN Francisco and nearby Silicon Valley have moved into time warp mode as new-found optimism for Web 2.0 creates an atmosphere similar to the 1990s dotcom boom.

The potential of Web 2.0, a term loosely describing a wave of interactive, collaborative platforms and tools, has thousands of people and hundreds of new companies trying to jump on the bandwagon.

The first time around, people bragged about how much money they had raised and how many people they had hired.
