Re: Ebay Gone Wild! eBay Live! 2007 in Boston
I may go anyway in spite of my feelings about ebay. Only to the parties/events. I would dearly  to run in to a few of the boinktards I have come to know and dislike. A personal meeting between us would be enjoyable, IMO. And, since my brother lives in Boston, the trip would cost me very little. Besides, Boston is one of my fav cities to hang out in. |

Quote:More recognition for Power Sellers especially for those who just sell seasonly. A HISTORY OF EBAY's POWERSELLER ICON $2,000 required to obtain icon: PS icon provides ego boost for folks grossing almost 50% below the median national income $1,000 requirement: ego boost for folks grossing below the poverty level. Ebay gains because hobby sellers list more to get an ugly icon next to their ID. 2007: requirement changed to either $1,000 or x number of items sold: ego boost for folks grossing less than a crackho who lives in a van down by the river. Ebay gains because hobby sellers list more to get an ugly icon next to their ID.

Scot Wingo:
Quote:Finally and most importantly, Bill announced a "summer relief" program, they are lowering the first tranche of FVF fees on core from 5.25% to 4.5%. Working through the math on that for your average $50 item, the typical FVF fee is: $1.31 (tranche1 - 5.25*$25) + .81 = $2.12.  With the discount you're at: 1.13+.81=$1.94 for a .18/item sold discount or for the $50 item it takes the FVF take rate from 4.24% to 3.88%. That's about a 10% discount on the FVF which is better than a stick in the eye! full article: http://ebaystrategies.blogs.com/ebay_str...keyno.html Tame Bay: Quote:A new method of visual navigation is to be introduced in selected categories: apparently working alongside item specifics, this will turn up larger-than-Gallery pictures, with specifics of price, title, etc. available as a mouseover popup. Quote:The price of Anchor Stores is being lowered by $200 per month to $299. This is the first hint that the crippling blows dealt to Stores last summer may be taking effect, and that eBay want to stop the rush of sellers to quit the site in favour of their own websites. Quote:As of August 1st, Powersellers filing unpaid item strikes will have a refund not only of their FVFs, but also of feature fees... full article: http://www.tamebay.com/2007/06/keynote-bill-cobb.html |

Auctionbytes:
Quote:There were a number of announcements that would likely be of interest to sellers, but they were granular announcements saved for last. And the one that may be controversial among sellers is eBay's decision to serve up Best Match results by seller quality instead of strictly by relevance. Quote:# In August, PayPal is launching payments review - if sellers wait until eBay says it's okay, sellers will be protected with a 100 percent guarantee. full article: http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y07/m06/i15/s01 |

Ebay May Consider Extending Summer FVF Decrease
Quote:And on that note -- before I close -- I'm pleased to offer our sellers a little summer relief to your selling costs. Starting June 19th and continuing through August 5th, we will LOWER the first tranche of Final Value Fees from 5.25% to 4.5%. This applies to auction, auction BIN, or pure fixed price format listings. Consider it a little eBay Live! gift to our fantastic community. Update: Quote:When asked whether eBay would decrease auction fees in that case, Whitman mentioned the summer promotion announced during her keynote address at eBay Live in which commission fees are reduced from June 19 through August 5. "We, at the lowest tranche, reduced our Final Value fees (for core listings), and look for more incentives over time to list in the auction format. It's a summer promotion, but if we can, we'd like to extend it obviously."... full article: http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y07/m06/i18/s02
