August Moon Japanese Hanafuda Flower Card Oil Pastel Painting

Bursting with strong colors, this original oil pastel painting is a freehand interpretation of an old Japanese card.

Hanafuda cards are one of Japan's oldest games--similar in some ways to Rummy. Instead of kings, queens, and royal suits, though, these cards feature the seasons and various plants and flowers.

This contrasty image represents Autumn (the moon in Autumn, over bent Pampas Grass).
