New Zealand Telecom is set to go head-to-head with auction website TradeMe
Quote:The country's biggest telco will launch an extensive new online trading and shopping website this month, the National Business Review reported today.

The telco is understood to have been developing the auction website – code named "Project Sparkys" – for the past few months, inviting various online retailers and resellers to list their products on the planned site.

Industry speculation suggests the launch, expected on October 17, will be accompanied by and extensive publicity campaign

New TradeMe Rival Ferrit Debuts Today With 1 Million Listings
Update: New Zealand Telecom's new shopping site Ferrit went live today: http://www.ferrit.co.nz/home.asp

Quote:New Zealand's newest on-line shopping site goes on-line today - and offers more than a million products.

Fifty six retailers - including Hill and Stewart, Marbecks, Noel Leeming and Dick Smith - appear on Telecom's new "Ferrit" site, with dozens more signed up.

Ferrit hit the headlines when it was thought that it would be in competition with the record breaking on-line auction site TradeMe.

Not a TradeMe clone but a comparison shopping site...and you must go to the seller's web site to purchase the item.  I think the comparison features could use some work  Smile
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"

"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site.
best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011
