From past experience they know that crap like this will be listed after any tragedy so they could have easily done a search themselves and pulled all of this crap this morning instead of leaving it up all day--but they didn't. :

Durzy, the eBay spokesman, said the company has been assisting investigators since the start of the case.

``Within 24 hours, after Cho's identity was made public, we had reached out to law enforcement to offer our assistance in any investigation,'' Durzy said. ``In looking at his activity on the site, we can confirm that at no point that he used eBay to purchase any guns and ammunition. It is strongly against eBay policy to try to sell guns and ammunition.''

Well, that's interesting, to say the least. First of all, ebay is denying the obvious-----the record of his purchases remains. He even received feedback on one of them(Cho's feedback---the sale is the 2nd FB down).. One of the sellers who sold clips to Cho is a shooting star(oneclickshooting). Ebay can not deny knowing that these items are being sold on their site, nor that they WERE purchased by Cho, the VATech gunman!

And, if ebay policy is "no guns and ammunition", then those big sellers of same certainly have a problem.

It is strongly against eBay policy to try to sell guns and ammunition.

I consider gun magazine clips ammunition but I think Hazy Dizzy was referring to bullets when he said ammunition.

How in hell could they possibly be considered anything but ammunition?! Ebay and Hazy are flaming aspholes!!

Also, chops pointed out that the language used by Hazy was deceptive in another way. Hazy said:

That is a true statement in that Cho didn't purchase a gun on ebay-------only ammunition. The b*astards fully intended to deceive.

Another clarification. It is clear that I know very little about guns.   The clips are not considered ammunition; they only hold ammunition. They enable a shooter to very quickly reload his gun with a full clip in order to continue shooting in short order. The reason is obvious.
eBay policy does not allow guns and ammunition to be sold. It does allow accessories to guns and ammunition, including empty magazine clips. IMO, none of it should be allowed.

I still think that they are wrong. I also wonder if they are hiding something. They did pull only one of the auctions. Why that one? Why not the other one?

Cho bought the gun from Thompson’s business over the Internet, the state and federal background checks were conducted at the Blacksburg pawn shop where he picked the gun up on Feb. 8.

months later, eBay revises its policy and bans the sale of "bullet tips, brass casings and shells, barrels, slides, cylinders, magazines, firing pins, trigger assemblies, etc."

This new update continues to encourage safety among our community members and brings our policies in the U.S. and Canada in closer alignment with our existing policies in other markets around the globe.
