UPS to Offer Global Returns Service

Quote: UPS will begin offering retailers in January a package returns service and an electronic invoicing service designed to expedite passage through customs checkpoints in 98 countries or territories, the company said today.

"A lack of a returns service keeps many shippers from selling internationally, but now retailers will be able to sell across borders with the promise of easy returns," says Kurt Kuehn, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. "This will help online retailers make it easier for consumers to purchase goods from around the globe."

The electronic invoicing service, which UPS will offer at no extra charge beyond its regular shipping rates, is designed to provide automated entry of order and shipping data into shippers' invoices, providing for faster as well as more accurate transfer of business documents to government customhouses for passing through international borders...
