I always start with my favorite online retailers first. I shop at a variety of big name stores (like Amazon), but I also try to shop using smaller specialty stores as much as possible.
When purchasing a computer peripheral or camera, I always use pricegrabber.com first, then buy. I go the auction sites only if I know that what I need or want will be more expensive on a retail site--or impossible to find.
